Yuuki's Stats

My brother, then a cable-installer, opened the door to his cable van one day to find that someone had placed a cardboard box on the passenger seat. Inside was a three-week old kitten, small enough to fit in your hand, so young and weak that the vet told us he might not survive. Jay had forgotten about my birthday, and gave me the kitten as a present. During his brief stay at my parents house, he was nuzzled, prodded, and nocked over outright by my dad's concerned-but-still-large- husky. The teeny kitten, barely able to stand, was unafraid of the big white monstrosity. Thus he was named Yuuki, in Japanese it means courage. He is also referred to as baby, Ed, and %#@&.
He ecame an amazing soccer goalie, capable of powerful leaps and catches his favorite toy in midair. But Yuuki thrived and began to misuse his kitty-powers.
Now a strikingly beautiful despot, can no one end the reign of terror
his biting and jumping on the kitchen table has caused?!

GET OUT OF YOUR FISHBOWL!!! Not just Japan, I mean anywhere, anywhere you can afford to go. Get in your car and drive to Podunk Iowa. Plan a trip to Ireland or Scotland. Go to Laos! This world of ours is so full of possibilities, people, new perspectives and ideas, and a thousand different yous- the you you see on the horizon, the you your eyes can't see, and the you you might never have dreamt of. Experiences, and the things we see and feel shape the people we become, and all the things we aren't seeing limit us. Getting out of the US showed me how limited my perspective really was. It's given me a clearer picture of who I am and where I come from, moreso than could have been gained at home I think. But most importantly, I have an idea now of where I'm going. You only go around once, you might as well see, eat, speak, and hear as much as you can!
"Don't stay in a sad place where they don't care how you are. Everyone says hi." -David Bowie, from Heathen.
I've lived in Japan for two years now. Love it or hate it, how could you not miss a place that has been part of your life? I'll miss this town, but I'll be off to find a new one, and another horizon is out there for the chasing!
