I Don’t Understand
- A Seven of Nine (from Star Trek: Voyager) poem
Written by Nadya aka AngelMercury aka Naomi Tribble on March 8, 1999
I don’t understand.
This life, this world, this goal.
I don’t understand.
I was whisked away by the wings of the raven,
Carrying me to unknown shores.
I was absorbed into the darkness, having no choice.
I didn’t understand then.
I lived without living,
I killed without knowing,
Existing in an ocean of empty souls, having no choice.
I didn’t understand them.
I was rescued from the nightmare
By warm hearts just as lost as me.
I was not worthy, I was confused
It was like coming home without a choice.
I still don’t understand why.
I walk among them, they are my family,
But I can’t help living in a cold shell.
I want to reach out to them, I want them to reach out to me...
Now I have a choice, but I am not sure I can make it.
I don’t understand myself.
I‘ll try to understand.
This life, this world, this goal.
I’ll try to understand.
