The Schuldig Fic:
Inspirations and Explanations
(yes, I like things that rhyme. :P)
(Warning: SPOILERS may be mentioned!)
Well what can I say? I think the Weiß took all the spotlight as far as insights into the past are concerned (well, with the exception of Farfarello). This is part of my developing Schwarz obsession - they are such great fanfic material! My fav Schwarz is Schuldig, so naturally, I wrote a fic about him.
It's interesting what writing can do to a person! Before writing the fic, I liked Schu-Schu for his looks, but despised his personality, because from what I heard (I only saw eps. 1-7), Schu-Schu is a ruthless, cold-hearted jerk. So as a personal challenge, I wanted to write a fic about him that would unveil a side of him that would show he's not as cold-hearted as he seems. I firmly believe that Schuldig is like Aya in a way - there has to be a heart hiding somewhere behind that grin on his face, just like Aya has a naive, vulnerable soul hidden behind his scowl. In fact, part of the reason for this fic was to show how similar I think Aya and Schu-Schu are, even if they don't realize it...
Another thing that inspired me to write this, aside from reading a lot of Schu-Schu fics, was a quote I saw in the manga... if I understand this correctly, he helped set up the explosion that hurt Aya's sister. Somewhere in the manga, when he pauses to reflect on the situation, I think he says something like "killing hasn't bothered me before - then why do I feel differenly now? It's not like me at all." He shrugs it off with a "whatever", but that quote stuck in my head.
Yes, I know, from there on into the fic, I messed up with the storyline as it is told in the manga... the manga suggests that Farfie, not Schu-Schu, was the last to join the team before they left Germany for Japan, right? And they only named themselves "Schwarz" to oppose the "Weiß"... (however the manga does suggest that the Schwarz were an assassin group before being named that). I only realized this AFTER I had already written the fic. >_< So um, let's just say I'm going by the anime... in the anime less is known about how the Schwarz got started, right? (plus, I make numerous references to Schu-Schu's hair being red.. in the manga it's a calm green, it's only orange-red in the anime. Right?) Um, I figure if my silly errors don't interfere much with the fic's main story, it's still ok, ne? ^.^;
Ah, and another thing. I know Schu-Schu can read minds and can control them. To quote Cecille in a response to a metaphorical question I asked her, "I don't know if he can make someone think he/she is a lemming but he *can* make the person jump off a cliff.". (I did plan to use that, but it never came up in a major way in the fic, except for that scene where he "takes care" of the thugs) Also, as Schu-Schu admits to Farfie, he sometimes isn't sure where his own mind ends and another's begins. I figured, let's take that a step further - what if something happened that would make some of Schu-Schu's thoughts remain in another person's mind? That would be logical as far as telepathy goes, ne? (that's what happened in the very last part of the Aya/Schuldig fight scene). Now mind you I haven't seen the series that far yet, I may be blatantly wrong, but pleeeeez don't send assassins after me for it! (oh wait, if they have red hair - please DO! LOL)
I really don't know where in the series I want this fic to be. Maybe as a branch-off kind of thing? Like I said, I haven't seen far enough into the series to place it in an exact spot. *feeling silly* ;_; I had to invent a lot of stuff for this story, I know I'm treading a dangerously thin rope of continuity...
Whoa, this "free talk" thing is getting long. O_O
Just one more thing to mention about my vision of the similarities between Schu-Schu and Aya - yes, the whole girl-in-coma thing was meant to resemble Aya's sister's situation on purpose, and ties in with that quote above. (not the lemming quote, the Schuldig quote! :P)
Yep, the fic ends on a rather odd note... maybe I might write a little something else to continue it someday. Maybe I'll revive Schu-Schu's little friend in another fic, I don't know.
Heehee, and to end this "free talk" on a higher note - yep, I included my favorite nickname for Schuldig, "Schu-Schu", in there on purpose! It's just so darn cute! :)
I really hope you liked this fic!
