Great Transference of Merit
We disciples are common people, subject to birth and death. Burdened by deep and heavy offenses, revolving in six destinies, we suffer unspeakable pain, but now we have met a good teacher. we have heard Amitabha's name and the merit of hiis vows. Single-mindedly reciting his name, and seeking rebirth in his land, we hope the buddha will not renounce us, buut will kindly gather us in. We disciples do not recognize him, his body, his hallmarks, we hope the buddha will manifest, let us see Gwan Yin, Great Strength, and all of the boddhisattvas in that land of pure adornment, their light, their hallmarks and chacteristics; and cause us all at last to see Amitabha.
Na Mo Amitabha
Na Mo Gwan Shr Yin Boddhisattva
Na Mo Great Strength Buddha
Na Mo Great Pure Sea of Boddhisattvas
When death comes may we have no obstructions, may Amitabha come and welcome us. May Gwan Yin sprinkle sweet dew on our heads, and Great Strength place a golden dias beneath our feet. So in an instant we leave the five turbidities and arrive at the lotus pool. When our flowers open, may we see the buddha, and drawing near, hear the sounds of dharma with clear understanding. may we awaken to patience with non-production. Then, not leaving peace, we will enter the Saha World, teach living beings through skill in means, and within the wearisome dust, do the buddha's work. May the Buddha know of these vow's we have made. may we finally realize buddhahood.
