Battle Series

This series will feature a brief overview on the main opponents faced by all the senshi and Sailormars.
Battle Series

Not your stereotype fat and ugly enemies, all bishoujo senshi actually have a 'fair' match with these powerful, cool and even beautiful enemies. Well, this is what I actually notice in most Japanese animation. (Makes you want to think of who to side with, ne? -_^) Of course, their target is usually Sailormoon, the central figure of it all. However, her powers are not inherent as the other senshi who call on their elemental powers. Sailormoon has her wand with the crystal to rely on. But even if she is the most powerful, the thing is that she cannot win alone. She needs the powers of all the senshi and together they make a very powerful force.

Dark Kingdom

No one has caused so much damage and pain twice to the sailor senshi than Queen Beryl and her four generals: Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite and Kunzite. With Queen Metallia behind her, Queen Beryl was even able to manipulate Sailormoon's destined lover, Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen to join her against the sailor senshi.

What is special about this set of villains is their role in the history of all the sailor Kunzite and Zoisite senshi--Queen Beryl, Queen Metallia and all the generals were even the senshi's enemies in the past whose return in the present time actually marked the reawakening of our heroes' destinies.

Queen Beryl's generals share intriguing stories in the anime with Nephrite's bond with Naru and the relationship of Zoisite and Kunzite. Although the ending is very different between the anime and manga, what is emphasized so much is the friendship between the sailor senshi.

Ann and Ail

One of the enemies that was a true concept of the cartoon or anime. The creator Takeuchi-san didn't really have them in the manga, but to be sure, the five senshi faced a tough opponent whenever Ann and Ail summoned a cardian (monster drawn from the card.) It was during their battles that the four sailor senshi had special power-up, i.e. Sailormars' Fire Soul Bird which she used twice against them. In the end, Ann and Ail realizes that how much they matter to each other having felt love which they never knew when they were born. Sailormoon helps them start a new life.

Black Moon Family

If Queen Beryl was in the past, the new set of enemies was from the future. Led by Prince Dimando-sama of Nemesis, the Ayakashi sisters, Esmeraude, Saffir Cooan and Beruche and Rubeus wanted to overthrow Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion. The future Usagi and Mamoru were to be the rulers of Crystal Tokyo who banished those who would not be cleansed by the Crystal.

Interesting note in the anime here where the four sisters were 'reformed' by Sailormoon's crystal, and the first one of Cooan was actually with the request of Sailormars. In the manga, we see a totally different story because the sisters were killed by the senshi.

Fiore and Kisenian

The same prototypes as the villains Ann and Ail, Fiore was Mamoru's friend when he was still a child, and he forms an unusually strong bond with Mamoru (which made Ami suspect that Mamoru probably likes him in a different way...^^) Fiore draws his power from the Kisenian flower who also influenced him to destroy Sailormoon and put the entire Earth in ruin. This story was the R movie and I think, the best in terms of battle scenes, plot structure and in-depth character focus. Even if Sailormoon, as always is the center, the sailor senshi realize how Usagi changed their lives. Another unique thing in the battle against Fiore is that the sailor senshi save the Earth by 'dissolving' the 'meteor' from crushing into the Earth (I forgot what Fiore's mound is called, but that is the threat when it enters the Earth's atmosphere. ^^)
