Crust Method:

  1. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
  2. Cut cold butter with a knife into flour until it resembles breadcrumbs. (it can also be grated in).
  3. Then rub with fingers until well mixed.
  4. Cut milk into flour with a knife to form a soft manageable dough.
  5. Press lightly together ,cover and let rest in fridge for half an hour.

Filling Method: 

  1. Mix the meat with half a cup of the water with a big fork in saucepan.
  2. Cover and simmer over medium heat until cooked.
  3. Soak bread in remaining water, squeeze and add to meat, with vinegar, salt and pepper.
  4. Cook and stir regularly.
  5. Roll out 2/3 of the pastry on a floured board and line a greased pie dish (with 2,5 litre capacity) with the pastry.
  6. Prick the bottom pastry with a fork and then fill with the meat.
  7. Sprinkle cheese on top and cover with the thinly rolled out pastry.
  8. Make slits in the top of the pastry to let steam escape and brush with beaten egg.
  9. Cut leaves from remaining bits of pastry and decorate the pie.
  10. Bake at 180 C (350 F) for 25 - 30 minutes.
  11. Serves 8.
