During this anime you will be asking yourself many questions. There is so much going on behind the scenes it's not even funny. Ok, so just to warn you ahead of time this page reveals many secrets you might not want to know. So now that you know that, and you still go on it's not my fault you might lose some interst in the anime. On a personal note on these mystries and questions, you may not encounter some of them because they are made up by me. They are just somethings that I happened to ask myself or think about.
Let it be known that Neon Genesis Evangelion is heavily based on Religion,and many if the aspects of the anime have religious background.
Well to make it simple the angels are beings that are trying to see it the human race is worthy of evolving any further. The word "angel" mean messager of God. So why would they attack us? see the next thing on the list.
As stated above they are testing the human race. If we are worthy to evolve higher or be destroyed for our weakness.
Not too much is known about the Eva's except that they are copies o the first angel, Adam. The Eva's are the powerful forces known to man, but at what cost where they built? A shourd of mystery engulfs them, but what I have learned so far is that their secret could destroy the world, or at least make the people who pilot them never do it. How this is learned is when Commander Ikari and Dr. Ritsuko are talking after a incident with Unit 1. In the the scene Ritsuko says,"If Rei or Shinji ever find out the secrect about Eva. They would never forgive us...."
The "Magi" is a set of three computers that control Nerv. Everthing Nerv does is based on the "Magi" and what is says.
The "Magi" was created by Ritsuko's mother. As said in the Bible there were three wise men or magi the visited the baby Jesus in the stable. The the super computers represent these three men.
Lilith is a being that is kept in the bottom of Nerv Head Quarters. She is nailed to a cross-like thing and has a spear stuck in it. It is said that Lilith was Adam's first wife, but she was very evil, thus giving her the name the mother of all evil.
This is quite simple. Adam is the first Angel. He caused the Second Impact. As you might already know Adam was the first man alive according to the Bible, and therefore the is the father of all.
The words on the Nerv symbol are, "God is in His heaven all is right with the world." What this might mean is that God doesn't care about the human race. He sits up in His mighty thone in heaven and doesn't give a damn about the world, or it could just mean what it says. Also it was stated by a guy who was known as a phiosipher(please I don't know how to spell this word, but i'm sure you can make it out), but you never really find out... or at least I haven't :)
Well the Dead Sea Scroll are where most of the known Bible came from... In this anime it is the bases of with is going on in thier world. You are hinted of this from Commander Ikari when he talks about scenes that might not be depicted in the Dead Sea Scroll...Later in the series you find out that the scrolls predict all that happenes in this anime. The coming of the Angel and all that other good stuff.
The S2 unit is a new type of power source for the Evangelions and the act much like the core of an Angel.
The question occurs when the Fifth child(I don't know how to spell his name is I'l use this instead) meets Rei. He says to her that they are alike. This is further shown at the end when the new AT field is brought up.
Okay this is a hard thing to really understand because so much is happening at the same time it's very hard to understand if you only watch it once. Now let me try to explain. First the Fifth child is introduced. This is wierd altogther because he seems to be, well... gay. He shows this with the "I love you" statement to Shinji. Okay next we learn about what is happening in the mind of Commander Ikari. By now it should be clear that he isn't working the plan of Seele. He has a mind of his own. Now on to the next strange thing we find out... The true working of the Evangelions. This is by the what is said about Unit 2. This goes back awhile so please bare with me. After the Angel invasion of Unit 2's pilot, she goes intop major withdrawl. She loses all confidence and hope of life. She is worthless. So in away she is hiding from the world and her destiny... Unit 2. That is why the 17th Angel is able to control Unit 2. this all is stated by what was said by the Fifth child a.k.a. the 17th Angel. Something like... It is easy to control Unit 2 because right now it's souls is hiding. Now last part about this thinking. The multipule AT fields in the last scene... the first is the 17th Angel, next is the Lilith, and finally the last is Rei. Now is the true idea if confusing, but I hope i cleared it up for you alittle.
Here are some of the hard hitting questions you might be asking yourself when you watch the anime. This is a very hard question to answer... Well I'm sorry, only you know this answer. It may differ from person to person, but whatever you think it is, IT IS!
The reason why there is so much conflict is because the elder generation are seeing if the new generations are worthy to carry the burden of the world upon them. They are preparing the new generation for what is to come.
Who knows... There might be. There might not. If you want to believe in all-powerful being than go head. If you don't that's fine too. You see everyone is different, and everyone has there own way of thinking. Well I presonally believe there is a God, but that doesn't matter because everyone should think for themselves.
Well to answer this question simple. Asuka said it in the 11th episode. "If someone attacks you, you don't just stand there!"
Well you can look in books of science and get a definition, but I like to think that humanity is what we want it to be. Let me explain. A people that sets it's mind and one thing and won't give up will almost never lose. So I believe that humanity can become anything it wants. It only has to stop fighting itself and unit for a common goal.
The life of anything is valuable. No matter how big or small all life has meaning.
Again you decide. Do you think man kind should live on? Well I hope your answer is "YES" because if you said "NO" than you just said you should die. Now think if you were from a different planet and think about how we treat our planet. Yeah, we may reuse some things, but we screw our planet every day.
Now ask yourself "Is mankind worthy of life?" I still hope your answer is "YES" because I would rather live in a world with other humans no matter how bad they may be, than be on a world with no people.
