Ancient Ninjutsu Training
Ninjutsu training in the ancient times was a lot different to training today. The whole structure of ninjutsu organisations was also different.
In ancient times, there where three levels within a ninja organisation, they where known as Jonin, Chunin and Genin. Much like the theory of management of High Level Managers, Middle Level Managers and Front Line / Lower Level Managers, the three levels of ninja were the same.
One must also remember this that a ninja was usually born into a family or clan of ninjas, so a ninja was born a ninja and would die a ninja. As a child their ninja training would start be children’s games they would play, practicing balancing, tumbles, climbing, running. As they grew older in to their adolescence, their training would take on more practical skills of unarmed and armed combat. As a young adult, they would learn the skills of a ninja’s trade, Stealth. Espionage, Human Anatomy and Spiritualism.
GENIN: The genin was the ninja agent, sent out to perform the duties they would be employed to do. At stage in a ninja life, is during their young adult-hood, after their elders felt they were ready to undertake ninja missions. Most ninja at this stage either made it or didn’t, meaning they died during the course of their missions.
CHUNIN: The chunins were the seniors of the ninja groups, responsible for taking the orders from the Jonin and employing the ninja genin agents into missions. Most chunin were the once responsible for mission designs, mission guides, setting up strategy. The chunin was also the on who helped in the training and selecting of the best ninja agents for the job.
JONIN: The jonin was the leader of the ninja clan they belonged to, their identity guarded by secrecy, no one knew who this person was, at most times, not even the chunin. This was to protect the ninja agents and the clan. They would be the ones to decide a mission and pass on its particulars to the chunin.
The life of a ninja and their training they under went was very tough and by today’s standard beyond anything you could dream. The only place where you would receive such harsh training was if you were to join the militaries secret services, because it is this training which would only come close to the training of a ninja in the past.
