This was the first and one of the best stories of the set. There is this doctor (Yang Huai Ming) and his wife (Yau Yu Ying) who can't have a baby. His mother, however, wants a grandson and gives her son a hard time about it. One day, the doctor saves this guy named Liu Qing Ping (Gu Goon Chong) and asks him to do a favor for him. The doctor asks Ping to have a baby with his wife. So he drugs his wife and she becomes pregnant with Ping's baby; the doctor lies that it's his son and Ping runs away. Everyone is happy until one year later, Ping comes back and accidentally goes into the wife's room. The doctor gets mad because he thinks they had an affair. He has her thrown down a river but a general (Zhang Fu Jian) saves her. She then marries the general.

Eight years later, the lady reunites with her son again but the general does not accept him. When she prepares to run away with the boy, she bumps into Liu Qing Ping. She wounds him and the general comes and kills him so he will not tell. Later, she meets up with the doctor again and he gets crazy because he misses her. The general kills the doctor and Pao Qing Tian sends Zhan Zhao to kill the general. Zhan Zhao doesn't really want to because he's the general's good friend but at the end, he does. The general's wife gets crazy at the end.

The Case of Chen Shi Mei

This one is based on a true legend about this poor boy Chen Shi Mei (Yang Huai Ming), who takes magistrate exams and gets one of the highest officer positions, Chaung Ren. The Gong Chu, or princess (Hau Bing Ying) then marries Mei and he becomes the Fu Ma, a part of the royal family. Mei ignores his wife, Qing Xiang Lian (Lui Xue Hua) and two kids after attaininng his high position. Lian asks Pao Qing Tian to help her get back her husband. Tian visits Mei but Mei refuses to admit that he is Lian's husband. Tian is mad at Mei for forgetting his first wife and his own parents. Mei then hires a hit man to murder his wife and kids and burns their marriage license to destroy all evidence. Finally, at the end, they find some people from the countryside who remember their marriage. Tian executes Mei at the end of the story just as the princess, his wife, gets pregnant. After that, a high magistrate takes Lian as a adopted daughter and she lives a happy and rich life with the kids.

A Cat Replaces the Prince

This is another one based on a true legend. In the early Song dynasty, legend has it that someone replaced the queen's (Zhen Ya Chun) new-born baby for a cat. Therefore, the king thinks his wife is an evil spirit and kicks her out. The second wife of the king, with the help of an evil eunuch and forced maid, takes the baby boy and says that it is her child; she also attempts to burn the first wife to death and kills the maid.

Twenty years later, he becomes the king. However, the first wife does not die but becomes blind. She goes to Pao Qing Tian to claim her rightful throne and son. Pao and Zhan Zhao go into the secret workings of the palace and find out about the eunuch but they have no evidence. It turns out that the first wife, during the twenty years, had adopted a daughter. She also looked like the maid who was killed by the eunuch. At the last trial, she pretends to be the ghost of the maid to scare him into telling the truth. It does not work and everyone gives up hope until the real ghost of the maid appears. After she tells everything, the eunuch is so afraid that he admits it. He and the second wife are executed. The King meets his mother and she becomes queen again.

Real or Fake Magistrate

During the year of the imperial examinations, two men with the same name, Chao Chuan, go attempt to take the test. On the way, the good Chao Chuan (Au Yang Long) meets a wounded man (Zhao Shu Hai) in the forest. Au Yang Long saves him and finds out that they have the same name so they study together and become blood brothers. However, when the time of testing arrives, the evil Chao Chuan fell sick and could not take the exams. He was very upset.

It comes out that the good Chao Chuan had passed first place and becomes the Chaung Yuan, the highest official in the ranking. The evil Chao Chuan poisons him, breaks his hands and makes him mute and blind and takes over his position and marries the princess. They had the same name and there were so many candidates taking the test that no one knew it. It was a good thing that the good Chao Chuan didn't die. He meets a good beggar, Su Qi Er who take care of him and helps him see Pao Qing Tian. Since he cannot talk or write with his hands, he tells the whole story by using his mouth and a brush.

The evil Chao Chuan still tries to hide the truth as Pao comes after him. He attempts to murder the good one but he does not succeed. At the end, he admits the truth and commits suicide. Pao gives the good Chao Chuan back his rightful position.

This was another of the better stories because you don't know what's going on until the end. This woman, Yang Li Shi (Li Lai Fong), has two sons. The older one, Yang Xie Zhu (Shi Yu) is married to Wong Chuan Xiang (Lin Shao Ling) and he gets treated badly by his mom. The second one, Yang Xing Zhu (Yang Qing Wong), gets spoiled by the mother. When the war comes, she must pick one son to go fight and she picks the first son. The wife is angry at her mother-n-law for the unfairness but cannot do anything about it. Later, the wife gets kidnapped and taken away and Pao is sent to investigate. It turns out that the wife was abducted by this crazy guy who makes her mute (at this time, she already had a baby) but Zhan Zhao rescues her. They suspect the younger son of hurting her since he was the last person to see her and he goes to jail.

Meanwhile, Gong Suan Xian Sheng discovers a story twenty years ago about this judge who accidentally murders a good fisherman who was wronged. The fishermen's son, Duan Qing He, becomes a high magistrate and is trying to bring ruin to the family who killed his father, which happens to be Yang Li Shi's family. When the first son returns from the war, he tries to save his brother. Someone else gets killed and they go to jail for it. This is when the mother tells the truth. It turns out that the younger son is really not her son but is the son of the wronged fisherman. When he was killed, the judge just noticed the truth and tried to stop his wife from commiting suicide. He could only save the son, who his wife is now raising and the first son was saved by a rich family who made him a magistrate. When Duan Qing He finds out that he was trying to kill his own brother all along, he commits suicide. The Yang family is happy at the end.

Story of the Wun Family

This is another story of family conflict and retribution. The Wen family, who did a great deed for the Song Dynasty, discover that there is a book uncovering their ancestor's betrayal to the country. The fourth son (Song Da Wen) is faced with the challenge of hiding the book from the king. His four elder brothers are evil so the task falls to the fourth son, the nicest. At the end, for some reason, Song Da Wen hates Pao Qing Tian for ruining his plans. Wen tries to bomb Pao in his carriage, but Pao wasn't inside. Instead, a little boy who Pao was sending to school was inside. Wen got convicted for killing the little boy. At the end, the little boy wakes up in the nick of time to prevent Wen from getting executed.

The Legend of the Two Nails

This one revolves around two ladies who killed their husbands by sticking a nail into the bun of their heads. Ten years ago, Fu Ren (Yao Yu Ting) killed her husband with a nail because he murdered her whole family. She pretended to marry him but really wanted to revenge. Later, she went to marry a high magistrate (Lin Zai Pei) and lived a peaceful life but never went outside much for ten years.

At the same time, another lady kills her husband so she can marry her affair man (Yang Quan). No one can figure out how the husband dies but Fu Ren suggests to looks in his head. It was true: he died with a nail in his head. They arrest the wife and affair man and everyone is impressed but Pao Qing Tian is suspicious about how Fu Ren knew. After some investigation, they found out about her murder ten years ago. At the end, she commits suicide and her husband resigns his position and goes to live in the mountains.

Search the Underworld

This one revolves around a poor scholar Yeh Cha San (Yang Huai Ming) who wants to marry a rich girl, Jin Cha (Ying Shau Ying), but her father does not let that happen. Another rich guy wants to marry Jin Cha too and he accidentally kills one of her maids in the girl's room. In order to save the girl's reputation, Yeh Cha San says that he killed the maid and Pao Qing Tian must execute him. The real guy even hires a smart person Chen Wei Tang (Shun Mang Sheng) to help him win the case. However, at the end of the story, Pao goes search the underworld and finds out the real truth. He executes the real criminal and Yeh Cha San and Jin Cha get married.

The Legend of the Red Flower

This story is a spin-off from the Case of Chan Shi Mei. The princess, in collaboration with a bad eunuch, wants to destroy Pao for killing her husband, Chen Shi Mei. She uses a killer (Yau Ah Shuan) to kill people and leave a red flower on them as a mark. He manages to frame Zhan Zhao for the killings. At the end, Pao executes all.

The Legend of the Blood Cloth

This one starts out with a bunch of mysterious people and an old priest with a little boy, Qing Yin (Li Qi Lun) trying to steal a red piece of cloth. Zhan Zhao (He Jia Qing) happens to be in the forest and gets involved in the fight. Somehow, when someone starts to bleed, the red cloth "eats" the person up. In order to stop it, the old priest dies and the little boy takes the red cloth which he gives to Pao Qing Tian. Zhan Zhao faints and in order to heal him, the masked girl, Cai Yun (Kung Chi Yan), gives him medicine.

It turns out that the masked girl Cai Yun is the daughter of a man who used to be a famous merchant. Her little brother is sick and she is trying to steal the red cloth to heal him. When Cai Yun convinces Pao Qing Tian to give her the red cloth, she begins to use it to avenge her present father. Her present father killed her real father and took the mother, adopted her, and her other little brother disappeared. However, she masks herself in each murder and pretends that she does not know Kung-fu. Along the way, she finds out that her real little brother is the little priest, Qing Yin. Also, Zhan Zhao falls in love with Cai Yun and refuses to believe she is the killer; therefore, she easily tricks Zhan Zhao.

When Cai Yun believe that she can no longer hide it from Zhan Zhao, she pretends that the character Cai Yun dies. Zhan Zhao does not believe it and somehow, rips off her mask. He is sad and mad at the same time. However, she has the red cloth in her pocket and he was bleeding because she had wounded his hand. The red cloth aims for Zhan Zhao but she makes herself bleed so it comes to her. Zhan Zhao cutely pulls it back and almost dies. Cai Yun finds out that a bracelet, along with blood, that she has (which her late father gave her) heals the victims. She uses it to save him. He then lets her go again. Finally, at the end, Pao Qing Tian forces him to capture her. Cai Yun's character commits suicide in order to heal the sick brother. Zhan Zhao holds her and sheds a tear.

Poisonous Egg

In this one, a rich girl, Yu Niang (Ying Shau Eing) and this guy, Little Doggy (Xiao Guo Zi), wants to get married but another rich guy, Hu Xiao Ye (Nui Sheng ??) wants to marry her. The king agrees to Hu to marry Yu Niang so no one can rebel against it. Since Hu never saw Yu Niang, her maid, Cui Cui (Ciu Pei Yi), pretends to be her and marries him. Yu Niang and her parents run away and she becomes a prostitute. Everything works out until Hu sees Yu Niang at the prostitute place and likes her (not knowing she was his real wife). Later on, Little Doggy and Pao Qing Tian's crew went to the place and Little Doggy saw his girlfriend again. They meet each other.

At this time, Cui Cui finds out that Yu Niang is still alive and well and she is afraid that she will take over her position. Cui Cui becomes evil and attempts to kill Yu Niang. She forces her to eat a poisonous egg or else she would tell everyone that she escaped the marriage and everyone would be executed. A while later, Hu goes to the prostitute place and in order to get away from him, Yu Niang eats the poisonous egg. At the end, Cui Cui is caught for killing off the Hu family to stealing their money. They execute her. Hu is left with no money and no family. However, Yu Niang and her parents have to be executed for escaping the marriage in the first place. Little Doggy goes to beg the high magistrates and they do not execute Yu Niang's family. Little Doggy and Yu Niang are happy at the end.

Queen Pong is Pregnant

The Queen, Pong Fei (Chen Qi), was pregnant with a baby but she falls down and a miscarriage occurs. Her father, Pong Gut, is extremely upset; if she had had a son, she would have more power in the palace. Therefore, he wants to trick the king into believing she is still pregnant. Gut goes to hire a thousand year old wolf who knows magic and he makes Pong Fei's stomach big. He also happens to meet Faun Hong Xue and his wife who is also pregnant at the time. He pretends to be nice and invites them to live with him so the baby would have a safer birth.

When she gives birth to a son, Pong Gut takes the baby and pretends that it's his daughter's baby. Faun Hong Xue is kicked out and he commits suicide. His ghost goes to Pao Qing Tian to ask for help. When the truth comes out, Zhan Zhao goes to fight the wolf coolly and saves the wife. The King finds out about Pong Gut's dealings and takes away his position. He also kicks Pong Fei into the inner palace where he will not see her anymore. At the end, the wife regains the baby and Faun Hong Xue's ghost goes to see his son.

Rain and Wind Angers the Heavens

This one was about the hate between two families. The good family with the surname of Yang has two sons. The older one (Gu Goon Chong) is scheduled to marry some other rich lady but this other mean guy wants to marry her. The younger son (Nui Sheng ??) pretends to be the rich lady and marries into the mean guy's house. When he gets into the house, the mean guy never find out because he never comes to see his wife. The younger son becomes friends with the sister of the mean guy but she somehow gets killed. The younger son then feels guilty and runs away. The younger son then meets another lady who looks like his dead girlfriend who dies. She happens to be her long lost sister.

Meanwhile, the older Yang son is sent to fight a war. The mean guy's family was doing illegal things behind the king and the Yang family had to expose their bad dealings. After killing many other people, including the sister of the dead girlfriend and the older son, the evil family still hides their evidence. At the end, Pao Qing Tian cannot do anything but let the evil son go. However, there was a sudden thunderstorm and a lightning bolt struck the evil guy, killing him. The younger son is left with nothing again, only his finished revenge.

Magical Fish Lady

This one is like a folktale. One time, a guy (Yang Sing Wang) is on his way to take the imperial examinations and he is hungry. When he catches a fish, being a nice guy, he doesn't eat it but save it. The fish is grateful and turns into a lady to help him safely to the exams. On the way, she helps him a lot.

Green Dragon Pearl

This one starts with Xiao Hong (Kung Chi Yan) stealing a green dragon pearl from the palace to heal her father. At the same time, the mother of the king, the Empress, gets bitten by a poisonous bug and needs the pearl to heal herself. The King sends out a mandate to find back the pearl. An evil general (Gu Goon Chong) is sent to seek the pearl; he kills a lot of innocent people along the way. After escaping from the evil general with help from Zhan Zhao, Xiao Hong manages to go back home and give her sick father the medicine. Gu Goon Chong the evil general manages to capture them. However, the Empress is healed in time, the evil general is executed, and Pao Qing Tian does not punish Xiao Hong. The king places the dragon pearl back into the palace.
