Qi Xia Wu Yi or the Story of the Seven Heroes are a collection of stories from the Sung Dynasty. The main hero is Justice Pao again and his trustworthy helpers, Gong Suen Xian Sheng and Zhan Zhao. However, another group of six fighters join them. Zhan Zhao is the seventh one, thus forming the title of the series. The six fighters all have their talents, one is brilliant, one is a good swimmer, one is rational, etc. Together, they solve cases and catch the worse criminals. In the early 90s, Taiwan created a long series based on these individual stories like Pao Qing Tian.

This story mainly concerned about a father and his son. Twenty something years ago, a sort of ugly man, Cat, (Niu Ma) liked and wanted to help this nice prostitute, Fong Yi, (Yau Yu Ting) escape from a bad rich guy who was abusing her. In doing so, Cat accidentally kills the bad rich guy. He is put into jail, his son disappears, and his wife gets executed. However, Fong Yi promises to wait for him. Twenty something years later, one of the seven heroes, Golden Mouse, had found and raised the son, Ping Jian Chiu (Sung Dai Wen), now grown up and ready to see his supposed heroic and handsome father for the first time twenty something years.
When Cat is finally set free, Jian Chiu is disappointed and angry to see that his father is really ugly, old, and beggar like. Fong Yi also reunites with Cat and though he tries to avoid her, she still tries to care for him. Meanwhile, the other villian of the story appears. In the past, the rich bad guy had a first wife (Zen Ya Jun) and now that Cat is out of jail, she swears to revenge. She uses her looks to try to trick the seven heroes, who had been helping Cat and his son. Her brother, head of a shipping company, is also in his own trouble because of some illegal shipments and murder. Jian Chiu, who has coincidentally worked there all these years, gets blamed for the murders and illegal dealings. The guards arrest him but Cat sneaks in and sets his son free because he doesn't want him following his footsteps.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Shipping Company tries to kill Cat to revenge. Somehow, he accidentally kills his sister when they are arguing over how to plan the murder and he runs away. However, the seven heroes catch him and turn him in with all the evidence. Jian Chiu also has to go to jail, but only for one to two years, because he had hurt some people during the big fight. Right now, he accepts his father and is not embarrassed of him anymore. He even admires him for what he had done. When he leaves for jail, Cat finally accepts Fong Yi's agreement to get married.

Zhang Ping Gets a Wife

This story starts out with Bai Bing Bing playing the mother of five little boys and being the stepmother of a grown up lady, Shuang Shuang (Zhang Yu Yian). Her husband is a drunkard and gets in trouble when he gambles and finds a huge green pearl. The pearl brings bad luck to the family when he gets killed. On the night that he gets killed, Zhang Ping promises that he will marry his wife, Bai Bing Bing. Zhang Ping keeps his promise but doesn't like her until later. However, they still have the pearl and the owner, Tian Zhu (Zhao Shu Hai), wants it back. He pretends to be a good guy to get into the family. Coincidentally, Shuang Shuang looks like his dead girlfriend long ago who helped him rule a godly kingdom.
Tian Zhu and Shuang Shuang like each other and he starts to try to bring her into the kingdom. Meanwhile the Seven Heroes know something is wrong with Tian Zhu and figure out that he was the one who sent a guy to retrieve the pearl from Bai Bing Bing's husband and have him killed. Zhang Ping tries to tell Shuang Shuang the truth but she and Bai Bing Bing refuse to believe it. Tian Zhu finally tricks Shuang Shuang into giving him the green pearl and he uses it to conquer up some magic. However, his best helper (Wu Jin) also wants the power and it was she, a few years ago, who killed his girlfriend to gain some of the magic.
Tian Zhu discovers that Wu Jin is trying to defeat him and when the Seven Heroes are trying to stop them, there is also some interior fighting within the group. At the end, the Seven Heroes follow Shuang Shuang, who now believes she will be the Queen Ruler of the kingdom, into the secret part of the forest where all this magic takes place. A big fight takes place and the Seven Heroes manages to kill Tian Zhu, who dies in Shuang Shuang's arms. Wu Jin takes Bai Bing Bing for hostage and she sacrifices herself to kill both of them. The last scene was Zhang Ping looking sadly at his wife's grave and crying.

The Princess Runs Away from Marriage

This story starts out with the princess, Zhao Ling, (Kung Chi Yan). Her mother and brother (Shi Yu) the King force her to marry some Mongolian prince to end the war with this other small kingdom. Zhao Ling does not want to be sent faraway and runs away from the palace to avoid the marriage. Pao Qing Tian sends Zhan Zhao (Jiao En Qun) to looks for the princess. Meanwhile, the princess meets with up with this guy, the Killer, (Zhao Shu Hai) who has a wife (Cheng Siu Ying) who he loves very much and a son. He is a hit and run killer, though, and his wife does not want him to do the job anymore.
Meanwhile, Zhao Ling gets in trouble when she escapes outside and gets stuck in a an old-time bar. When she wakes up, Zhan Zhao finds her. She refuses to return to the palace and runs away. They run into the forest where they meet up with the Killer, his wife, and son. This is when Zhan Zhao and Zhao Ling find out that the Killer is a bad guy. However, the whole family manages to escape. It is at this time when Zhan Zhao's Kung-fu brother (Long Long) hires the Killer to kill off some magistrates getting in his way of retaining power.
Zhao Ling takes Zhan Zhao out to places to have fun and she manages to escape from him again. When the Killer refuses to kill anymore, Long Long takes his family as hostage and kills them off. The Killer is extremely upset and gets caught by Pao. Zhao Ling, feeling sorry for him and his family, sets him free and he find Long Long to revenge. It is then that Zhan Zhao finds out that his Kung-fu brother is the one who had been planning all these murders. However, he has has no time to be upset too long because Long Long sends some people to kill him and Zhao Ling, who he had found again. They escape and find out that the Killer's family did not die. They help the Killer's Family reunite but the reunion does not last long because Long Long had sent some people to kill the Killer and this time, they succeed. The wife and son are left alone at the end.
Just when they think that Long Long can never be caught, the other Seven Heroes come out and catch him using a smart plan and trick. Zhan Zhao is very upset when Pao Qing Tian executes him. Zhao Ling also gets sent back to the palace.

Resist the Mandate of Heaven

There is this rich old magistrate with a lot of power in government. His grandson gets very sick and he goes to seek the best doctor in town to heal him. However, the doctor was saving another life threatening case at that time and does not come in time so the grandson dies. The magistrate, his son (the father of the dead kid) and his daughter-n-law are extremely mad. The rich son seeks out the daughter of the doctor (Fong Wen Lin) and forces her to marry him and have a kid to make up for the kid who died. On the forced marriage day, the reluctant bride's sister, along with the seven heroes, comes out and tries to stop it. When she gets wounded, the seven heroes leave. The marriage proceeds.
The sister happens to be the wife of Lin Zai Pei, one of the seven heroes. When she dies, he and his son are extremely upset and promises to revenge. Also at this time, the rich son's first wife hates the idea of him having a concubine and tries everything she can to stop it. The concubine runs away and gets saved by Bai Yu Tong, another seven hero. They all promise to avenge for the sister's death. However, the rich son's father is very high in power and they cannot do anything about it. Bai Yu Tong is extremely upset because of the government allowing these bad people to remain in their positions.
Finally, at the end, they manage to petition and get the rich son executed for the forced marriage and murder. After he dies, all the seven heroes walk away happily together.
