It is the Tomoeda Elementary School's athletic day. Sakura won a race and saw Yukito who comments that she runs very fast. Touya then told him that running is the only thing she is good at so he got pinched by Sakura. Touya told Sakura that their father will be late because he is still teaching in the university.
Then, an annoucement came, calling all the participants of the cheering squad that they will be the next to perform. Yukito will be taking pictures from Touya's camera so Sakura asked his brother to take Yukito's picture later on. Tomoyo, who was making the announcement, comments to some guys on how cute Sakura was. Sakura went to Tomoyo then asked if her mother had come yet. Tomoyo said no but will, later on for her mother is busy at work. Tomoyo will be taking a video of Sakura. Yukito comments on how good Sakura was during her performance when Sakura's baton fell on her head.
After that, they were eating. Yukito ate so fast that Sakura and Tomoyo stared at him. Yukito notices that he is eating alone. Sakura told him to eat until he is satisfied and Yukito says the lunch boxes are heavy so he eats to make them lighter. Suddenly, Sakura's father came who apologizes for being late and not being able to see Sakura perform. Her father brought some desserts. Later, her father, Touya and Yukito went to throw the trash. Tomoyo's mother came and kept on staring at Sakura. Sonomi, Tomoyo's mother comments that Sakura looked like someone she knows then asked Sakura's name for Sonomi was always busy that she never got to ask what her own daughter's friend's name was. As Sakura was saying her name, her father came back. When Sonomi saw who Sakura's father was, she shouted in disbelief. They even called each other's names.
In another part of the park, Sakura's father, Fujitaka and Sonomi were talking. It turns out that Sonomi was related to Sakura's mom, Nadeshiko. Fujitake was a newly graduate who was then the teacher of both Sonomi and Nadeshiko. Nadeshiko who was then 16, married Fujitake which made Sonomi very angry for she 'loves' Nadeshiko. Sonomi had taken care of Nadeshiko since they were very small and couldn't believe that Nadeshiko would marry someone like him. Because of this, Sonomi could not forgive him.
The race of the parents was starting. Fujitake will be racing against Sonomi who vows not to be beaten. Meanwhile, Yukito asks Touya about the two parents. Touya revealed that Sonomi and Nadeshiko were cousins. Everyone in his mother's side especially Sonomi was against the marriage for Nadeshiko was the only daughter of a rich family and will be marrying a teacher. Touya comments that it is not because his mother was both modelling and studying that caused her to die early. Yukito says that even so, Nadeshiko looks very happy in all her pictures not including those ones that she modeled in. Touya then noticed that there are such many flower petals falling.
At the race, Sonomi got a head start but was quickly overtaken by Fujitake which made Sonomi furious. Many flower petals kept on falling. Sakura's friend asked where all the flower petals came from. Another friend said that it is hard to see with all the petals. Sakura then realizes that it could be a clow card.
The flower petals kept on falling as Sonomi and Fujitaka kept on running. Sakura nervously laughs that they are the only ones running. Tomoyo says that her mother doesn't like to lose. Since the petals are already knee-high, Sonomi tried swim in the petals instead of running. Sakura's friends say that it is hard to breathe and they might drown in the petals. Sakura decided to find the cause. Tomoyo says that what if the people would see them but Sakura assures Tomoyo that the people can't see because of all the flower petals that are falling. So, Sakura used her cane to fly with Tomoyo and left the rope which is used as the finish line to her friends.
While flying, Tomoyo suggests they call Kerberos to help them. Kerberos at home was crying because he had lost in a computer game. Kerberos told them to find the source of the falling of petals. They looked around and saw that the flowers came from the school's roof. At the race, Chiharu and Rika are having a hard time holding the rope for the flowers have reached up to their necks. Then, Touya and Yukito took the rope from them and told the girls that they will hold the rope and that they, the girls, should go to a higher place.
Sakura and Tomoyo were already on the roof and they saw a beautiful lady, surrounded by flying flower petals, dancing. Sakura shouted that it is a clow card which made the lady to look at her. The lady, then, took Sakura's hand and danced with a suprised Sakura. Kerberos asked if the lady has twirly ponytails which Tomoyo answered, yes. Kerberos told Tomoyo that that lady loves happy things. Tomoyo reminded Sakura that the school will be drowning in the flower petals. So, Sakura immediately captured the card while they were still dancing. The card was called 'Flower'. Kerberos told them that since there are festivities in Sakura's school, the card came there for it loves happy things but was angry for not being invited so it scattered the flower petals to drown them. Sakura asked as to what this card does and Kerberos said that it can make any kind of flower appear in the sky. Tomoyo then gets hysterical and when Sakura asked why, Tomoyo answered it that she forgot about the race.
Fujitaka won the race and was surprised that Yukito and Touya were holding the rope. Then, appeared, a very furious Sonomi. The people are cleaning the grounds which made Touya complain as to why he have to sweep too when he just attended the activity. Sakura asked as to where her father was and Yukito told her that her father and Tomoyo's mother were at the back of the school.
Sakura and Tomoyo went to look for them and saw them arguing. Sonomi angrily says that all these time she always loses out to Fujitaka especially when she tried to take Nadeshiko back. Fujitaka told her that it wouldn't be respectful if he lose delibrately. As they argue, Tomoyo suggests that Sakura use her new card. Sakura told the card 'flower' to give their parents a flower. Out of the sky, two flowers fell and went to both the parents. The parents clutched the flowers for it was Nadeshiko's favorite flower. Sonomi confessed that Nadeshiko always smile at Sonomi for her to forget her anger at Fujitaka. Sonomi adds that she really loved Nadeshiko. Fujitaka told her that Nadeshiko also loves her but Sonomi answered that it is not the kind of love she want it to be. Sonomi says that Nadeshiko was really lucky to have married Fujitaka for she was really really happy whenever Sonomi saw her. Sonomi cries that it is such a bad thing that she died early. Fujitaka comforts her by saying sorry to Sonomi for during last few years of Nadeshiko's life, Nadeshiko spent most of the time with him. Sonomi then pinches Fujitaka's cheeks saying that she still hates him a little bit.
Sakura leaves with Tomoyo. Sakura told Tomoyo that no wonder that Tomoyo's mom told her that she looked like someone she knows. Tomoyo answered that she heard her mother talked about Nadeshiko and that her hair is long for she wants it to be like Nadeshiko's. Sakura was happy that her father will be able to sort things out with Tomoyo's mother and that Tomoyo's mother likes her mother. Tomoyo told her that she likes Sakura and Sakura says that she,too likes Tomoyo. Touya called them to hurry up for the closing ceremonies will be starting and they have to clean up. Tomoyo then quietly says that her love is not the same as the love that Sakura thinks it is. Sakura asked as to what she said but Tomoyo just hold her hand and told the bewildered Sakura that she will tell Sakura when they grow up a little.
As they were sweeping, Tomoyo looked at Touya and smile. She says to herself that Sakura's ear and Touya's ear are very alike then she blushes. (Note: Whenever Tomoyo blushes when she sees Touya, it was because she thought of Sakura.)
Above a building, a boy in chinese costume was looking at Sakura's group with a telescope. Then, he says, "Found it...this is the clow card's mark."
At class, everyone greeted Sakura 'Good morning.' Tomoyo notices that Sakura seems to be thinking about something. Sakura confides that she is trying to think of a nice birthday gift. Tomoyo remebered that it was Yukito's birthday on Dec. 25 and asked if Sakura was wondering what would be the best gift for him. Sakura replied that she doesn't know what he likes and that she might not have enough money. Tomoyo suggested that they ask Rika about the gift. Sakura agreed for Rika was rumored to have an older person as a boyfriend though no one knows who it was.
Then, Rika came to class. Tomoyo with Sakura in tow, went to Rika. Rika asked what type of person Sakura would give the gift. Sakura blushes as she describes Yukito as being very smart, have a captivating smile, can-do-anything type of person and likes to eat. Rika told them that she knows a certain store where they will go after class. This thrilled Sakura as she blushes again.
Teacher Terada came so the students went to their seats. Teacher Terada saw Rika who smiled sweetly at him which made Terada blush. All of this was seen by Sakura who was wondering what was that all about. Teacher Terada then introduces a new student. The new student was Li Shaolan who was staring at Sakura. Li Shaolan was made to sit at the back of Sakura. As Li Shoalan went to his seat and until the end of classes, he kept on staring at Sakura who was beginning to feel uncomfortable.
After classes, Li Shaolan asked Sakura to meet him at the back of their school. Li chants some incantations that made his 'compass' which looked like a chart with symbols and chinese characters, shoot a beam at Sakura. Li remarked that Sakura has the clow cards and asked her to give it to him. Sakura told him that she wouldn't for she and Kerberos worked hard to get them. Li knew about Kerberos and that why should Kerberos entrust this task to a kid like Sakura. Sakura explained that Kerberos doesn't have the strength yet for she doesn't have the 'flame' card nor the 'earth' card. Li criticize Sakura for not being able to get the two important cards after nine months. Sakura asked him as to how he knew about the cards and Li told her that it is none of her business. Li then asked for the cards again as he grabbed Sakura. Tomoyo seeing this hurriedly went to Sakura. Touya then grabbed Li at the back and picking Li up. Angrily, Touya asked as to what he is doing to his kid sister. Sakura was surprised that his brother was there and Tomoyo quickly asked Sakura if she was alright. Li suddenly kick Touya's arm to free himself. Li and Touya were in a fighting stance when Yukito came, shouting about having meat buns and other goodies to eat. Yukito who doesn't have a clue as to what is happening, asked everyone that they should eat together. Yukito after seeing Li, offered him some buns. Li then, blushed really red then ran away, leaving a confused Sakura.
As Rika leads Sakura and Tomoyo to the store, Tomoyo asked if Sakura asked Kerberos about Li. Sakura answered that no one is answering the phone for it seems Kerberos was sleeping. Sakura can't believe that there was such a store where so many cute things are sold. Rika told them that she was the one who personally found this place. Sakura then saw a small bowl with a drawing of rabbit and clouds, and complete with chopsticks and a small figurine of a rabbit which is used for putting the chopsticks. Sakura decided to give this to Yukito even though she felt it was kind of corny but, it suits Yukito for he eats a lot. Rika then chose a little brooch which is a little sword.
At home, Touya asked Sakura if Li did anything to her after the incident. Sakura reassured him that he didn't for she was with Tomoyo. As Sakura went upstairs to change her clothes, Touya told her that he will be leaving for his parttime job after fixing dinner. Sakura found Kerberos sleep floating. As Sakura was trying to wake Kerberos, Kerberos sleep-talk saying 'Yue...Don't...If you did this..!' then he bump into the wall which woke him up. Sakura immediately asked about Li Shaolan.
While they were eating, Kerberos told Sakura about Li. We would learn through their conversation that Clow Reed, master of Kerberos who invented the clow cards, have an English father and a Chinese mother. Clow Reed combined the western and eastern magic into a new kind of magic. Only a few were able to use this type of magic. The Li clan was of Clow Reed's mother's side who also uses powerful magic. So, Li Shaolan was a relative of Clow Reed. Sakura asked Kerberos if it would be good if she would give him the cards. Kerberos says that this cannot be for Sakura was the one who woke him up and was able to open the seal of the book so she is the only one who could get the cards. Sakura was relieved. Kerberos asked as to how he was able to find her. Sakura told him that he had a certain 'compass'. Kerberos says that his master had left that compass at his mother's relatives. Sakura wonders as to why he came to Japan from Hong Kong. Sakura asked Kerberos as to what kind of 'disaster' will happen if the cards are not found, will it be like the shattering of earth into pieces. Kerberos told her that it was not that kind of 'disaster'.
The door bell rings so Sakura went to answer it. As Sakura answers the door, Kerberos comments that if it was the kind of disaster which Sakura described, it would be really terrible. Sakura opened the door and saw Rika hardly dressed for the weather for it is cold outside. Sakura noticed that Rika was already wearing her newly bought brooch. Rika's eyes were completely blank then suddenly the sword-brooch grew. Rika got the sword and lunged at a very surprised Sakura.
Sakura and Kerberos were running away from lightning. They avoided being hit by the lightning. Then, the clow card appeared like a lion made of lightning. Kerberos told her that the time to capture it is now. Sakura captured the card whose name is 'Thunder'.
Tomoyo was clapping at the performance of Sakura as they watched how Sakura captured the 'thunder' card. Tomoyo happily comment on how her new costume for Sakura was pretty. It was a black cat themed dress. Tomoyo was staying overnight at Sakura's house. Tomoyo told Sakura that Sakura is really cute so Sakura blushed. Sakura told them that it is still not enough. Kerberos asked Sakura if she was saying this because of Li. Kerberos told her that Sakura is much polite than that little brat. Sakura explained to Tomoyo that Li called Kerberos, a stuffed toy so he was very angry. Kerberos told Sakura that her strength is increasing everyday and he will guard the cards she captured. Tomoyo told them that it is late and they should sleep already for they will do something tomorrow. Kerberos shouted that they will buy something for Valentine's Day. As the two girls sleep, Kerberos says that he hope that they can go over all the obstacles of the disasters that might come.
The next morning, Sakura and Tomoyo went to a chocolate store whose chocolates are very delicious. As Sakura opened the door, she saw her brother in a waiter's uniform, carrying a tray of chocolates. Sakura who was surprised to see her brother, asked as to why he was there. Touya told her that he work here as his parttime job. Then came, Chiharu and Rika who were also going to buy chocolates. Rika was wearing the brooch that Sakura gave her. Rika told her that she wears it everytime she goes out. Sakura thinks to herself about Rika having an older boyfriend and that Rika said 'teacher' to the illusion. Sakura says to herself that she will not ask Rika about this and that she will wait for Rika to tell them on her own will. As they shop, Sakura noticed a girl's shadow moved. Then, this shadow made the cabinet of chocolates to fall on a couple of girls. Touya stopped the cabinet from falling on the girls who were very frightened. Sakura says that there is something dangerous happening here and that shadow moved. In all the confusion, the door opened and Sakura saw who it was. Li was standing at the door and says, 'It is a clow card.'
In the house, Fujitaka says that what happened was a disaster. Touya who have a bandaged hand for he hurt his hand when he stopped the cabinet from falling, says that he felt something strange and that there seem to be something in the store. Fujitaka comments that Touya is like Nadeshiko even though he doesn't feel nor see these strange things. Fujitaka asked as to why Sakura never mentioned things like this. Sakura answers that she is afraid of strange things.
Tomoyo made the costumes this time with a hearts-theme for Valentine's day was on the next day. She even gave a small heart collar for Kerberos. Sakura enters the store and try to feel the clow card. Kerberos says that she is becoming strong for she can already feel the cards. Then, Sakura found the shadow which attacked them. Sakura used her 'fly' card to get away and put Tomoyo in a safe place as she videotape Sakura. Kerberos told Sakura to be careful when the 'shadow' captured her flying cane. Sakura used 'windy' to get away much to the relief of Tomoyo and Kerberos. On top of a building, Li asked them if they can capture it. Kerberos retaliated by saying that 'shadow' is really hard to capture even for Clow Reed. Li used his paper magic but the paper just passed through 'shadow'. Kerberos told Li that it is hard to hold 'shadow' and that Li doesn't know anything which made Li mad. Suddenly, shadow attacks and Li shielded Sakura so he got hit on his arm. Li used his sword to produce lightning but it didn't stopped 'shadow'. Kerberos told them that Li's method was good and that being a relative of Clow Reed, Li understands the clow cards. But still, Kerberos hates him. Kerberos said that they must make 'shadow' stand still and that there should be a light so that the 'shadow' cannot make the shadows to attack them and its true form will appear. Tomoyo says that it is night so they will need a very strong light.
Sakura then knows what to do. She told Li to leave everything to her. Sakura used her 'thunder' card to light up the place by burning up the street lamps. The 'shadow's appearance was a cloaked being. Sakura used 'sword' to pin 'shadow' to the ground and then captured the card. Kerberos praised Sakura for thinking of this method to capture 'shadow'. Sakura then went to Li and took out a handkerchief. She wrapped Li's wound and told him that it was because of Li who used lightning that gave her that idea. Li then after thinking said that he is not like Sakura. Sakura shouted to him that she will presevere and will capture all the important cards as Li walks away. The street lamps were still burning so Sakura immediately used 'watery' to stop it as the people was wondering what all the commotion was about. Sakura and Tomoyo flew away saying sorry for the trouble.
On Valentine's day, the girl students are giving chocolates to the guys. Chiharu gave her chocolate to Yamazaki. Chiharu says to him that she doesn't remember as to how many times she had given him chocolates. Yamazaki told her that it was since kindergarden and this will be the fifth time. Chiharu says that she is not excited at all that it is Valentine's Day. Yamazaki then told her that is it so? He says that his heart won't stop beating. He asked her if she made it or bought it. Then, he added that if she made it then he would pray that he will still be alive for the whole year. This made Chiharu angry and tried to strangle Yamazaki with her bare hands as Yamazaki was laughing. Sakura was worried about Li's wound and she wonders as to where he was. Overhearing this, Yamazaki told them that Li went to Seijyou high school and was going to give something to a student there. Yamazaki explained that he told Li asked about Valentine's day and Yamazaki told him that it was giving chocolate to someone you like. Chiharu asked that the girl should be the one to give the chocolate but Yamazaki, smiling, told her that he didn't go to all the details. Tomoyo told Sakura that Li was going to give Yukito the chocolate. Realizing this, Sakura immediately run as Tomoyo says that she will video it and that she shouldn't lose out to Li.
Near the fence, Yukito asked if Touya will be going to work. Touya says he don't know for the lights at the store were all burned out. Yukito says that he can work by himself. Touya says that he wonders what Li was doing there and that he is furious that Li kept on seeing Sakura. Yukito then asked as to why he can talk with Sakura. Touya then tenderly touched Yukito's cheek and says "You are ...."
Then came, Sakura and Li racing to the fence. Li told Sakura to quit following him and Sakura answered back that she has business here. When they arrived at the fence, they were both breathless as Touya and Yukito wonders as to what they want. Then, Sakura and Li offered their chocolates which Yukito happily accepts. As Tomoyo videotapes them, she says that Li and Sakura are very much alike. She hold a bag of chocolates that she made which she will give to Sakura. Then outside a building, stands a mysterious lady who says, "So, it's here." as the wind blow her hair.
