Les Mille Fleurs Summaries
The following is the summary for Part 2 of Les Mille Fleurs that first ran in Nakayosi #6 1997.
Chika is in the family flower shop arranging flowers when her father comes in to remind her to make breakfast and get ready for school! So Chika starts to make breakfast for her brother and her father, who are both teasing her about her poor cooking skills.
Chika starts to get dressed and ready for school and water the new rare plant that she just get, she must take special care of it because it is so delicate. Chika leaves the house and stops on the door step to strech when suddenly a soccer ball hits her in the head! She looks up and sees her best-friend Shu-kun has accidently dropped the ball while he was seeking out of his window. Shu-kun was trying to avoid his annoying little brother! But on his way down he forget his lunch which his brother returns to him.
Chika then realizes that the ball has broke one of her flowers so she begins to yell at Shu-kun for being so careless. Shu-kun then sweetly helps her clean up the mess. Then Chika goes into this long speach about all the flowers she knows... which Shu realizes makes them late for school so he gabs Chika hands and starts dragging her to school.
Finally at school during lunch time Chika and her friends are watching the soccer team and Shu-kun (the goalie) practice. Chika's friends are teasing her about her relationship with Shu-kun and are making dreamy fawning faces. Chika keep telling them that they are just friends, but her friends won't stop teasing her. Then we see Shu make this awesome stop and looks up at Chika in the window and starts yelling and waving at her saying "Chika-chan did you see that great save!?!." Which makes Chika blush brightly.
After school Chika sits down in a giant field and starts to think back to when she first met this guy in this wonderful garden. (Start of flash back) Chika is around 6 or 7 years old and she see these beautiful flowers in this huge garden and this guy around 13 or 14 playing with his dog and a old man sitting at a table. Chika is spying on the people in the garden when the dog runs up and jumps on her. The boy goes over to see if she is alright, and invites her into the garden. The boy shows her the flowers and give her seeds to plants in her own garden (which is how she gets started in gardening), she takes the flowers and then thanks him very much. She promises that she will return to the garden to see him very soon. (End of flash back)
It starts to rain so Chika leaves to go home and as she is walking she passes by the guy in her flash back ( but she doesn't realizes it is him), but he knows it's her. Chika finally gets home and her father scolds her for being late and so wet. He also show her how well the rare plant she has is doing and to go water it (take care of it). Chika goes into her room to change into dry clothes and starts to think about the guy from her flashback. She picks up her good luck charm in this little cute bag (which we think is the seeds from the guy in her flashbacks) and starts holding them close to her. When she sees that Shu is outside the window watching her. When suddenly the guy from her flashback, "Totsuzen" charges into the room, (what he is doing there is alittle unclear) then Shu leaves. "Totsuzen" watches Chika-chan as she arranges flowers. ( Their conversation is alittle unclear I think it is about flowers) When he goes to put his hand down, which is where she put her rare flowers, Chika goes to stop him but they both knock over the flowers!! Chika falls to the floor in tears and is very upset, "Totsuzen" is in total shock and runs away.
The next day at school Chika is holding her good luck charm when Shu comes in (she hides her charm) (Here is a rough translation of their conversation)
"Chika-chan, ummm, it's okay, I'm mean that it's okay if you have a Boyfriend. You know the guy from last night, if you have a boyfriend and you don't want me around any more I won't come around and bother you." Then Chika starts crying and runs away screamimg "Baka, baka, baka, baka, baka."
Chika runs and runs untill she reachs a big garden the same garden from all those years ago. She fall asleep crying, when we see a man wipping away her tears, we see the man is "Totsuzen" with his dog and Chika realizes finally that this is the guy from all those years ago.
