There was a big poster in school announcing a contest between Ringo and Ayanna. Ringo looked a bit worried about it. Michiyo came by and encourages Ringo. Two boys came by and asked for some autographs from Ringo. As Ringo was about to write her name, Kazuomi came by and told them that classes are starting already. The two boys left and Ringo was upset about what Kazuomi did. Kazuomi changed the subject by asking Ringo if she already knew what to cook for the contest. Ringo forgot about it and held on Kazuomi, smiling [asking him for help]. Kazuomi told her that they'll decide what to cook when they get home. As the three left, Ayanna was looking at them at the corner. Ayanna was very angry because Ringo was holding on to Kazuomi and she vow to defeat Ringo in the contest.
Kazuomi was delighted with the new kitchen in Ringo's house. Ringo was a bit sad since most of her savings had went to the payment of the new kitchen. Kazuomi told Ringo that it is very important to always keep the working place clean for a really good cook always does this. Ringo agreed and says to herself that Kazuomi's kitchen is always clean. Kazuomi told Ringo that that they will make some homemade bread for the sandwich. Later on, when the bread dough had already risen in a bowl, Kazuomi told Ringo to preheat the oven. Ringo did so but suddenly, there was a big explosion. Ringo's mother came in and asked what happened. Ringo told her that the oven blew up.
In Kazuomi's house, Kazuomi apologized for what had happened. Ringo's mother told him that it is alright since both of them were not hurt. Kazuomi invited Ringo's family to eat his 'Mixed Casserole' [The dish has some prawns, lotus root, parsley, fish, and noodles] Ringo's father praised Kazuomi's dish as being attractive and delicious. Kazuomi told him that there was little time to cook because of the accident, so he just used what was in the kitchen for this dish usually calls for very elaborate ingredients. Ringo's mother said that even so, it still looks appetizing and Kaede agrees. Ringo says that it is very easy and she hopes that she can do a thing like this for her sandwich [putting things together to form a whole dish then separate it when serving]. Kazuomi shouts that it was a good idea.
At the contest, Kazuomi, Michiyo and Ringo talked for a while as Ayanna was looking at them behind a tree. Mahito came by and encouraged Ayanna for the contest. Kaede was invited to be a judge since Watanabe thought she was a good cook. Kaede was surprised to hear about her being a good cook. Ringo thinks that it is because of Kazuomi's lie. Kaede then introduced Kazuomi to Watanabe. Watanabe says that the two of them should guest in the show and Kazuomi immediately protested, telling Watanabe that he can't cook.
The contest started and Mahito told the audience about the history of the contest. While making the sandwich, Ayanna made Ringo spill a can of peaches on the table. Ringo told her it was alright as she cleaned her table. Watanabe noticed that Mahito is not feeling good and told him to rest. Mahito said that since Ringo is working hard, he should not rest. A crew told him that Ringo doesn't have much technique but she really make it up with her 'feeling of loving what she does'
The contest ended. There were a lot of sandwiches on a buffet table. Ayanna told the people that her sandwich is separated from the filling so that the people can get choose what they want as their filling for their sandwiches. When it was Ringo's turn, Mahito was surprised that it looked like a cake. Ringo says that if you slice it, it will be a sandwich and explained that it is like a 'mixed casserole'. Everybody then had a breaktime.
Later on, Ringo was declared as the winner by the judges. Ayanna was surprised and Kazuomi was happy. The reason that she won because Ringo's table was clean while Ayanna's was not. The organizer of the contest then put a crown on Ringo.
In a bench nearby, Ayanna was complaining for losing just because of a small detail. Mahito came by and praised her sandwich. Mahito advised her to enjoy what she was doing like Ringo does. Ayanna blushes when Mahito suddenly hold her shoulder but as she turns around, Mahito fell unconscious. Ayanna immediately called for help.
