Mahito's fans are not happy with the news of Mahito dating Ringo. They promise to bug her. Outside school, there are many photographers and reporters. Ayanna looks out at the window commenting about the happening. A classmate then asks if she is a fan of Mahito since she is holding a copy of the magazine. Ayanna sweetly tells her that Kazuomi is the only one for her. Michiyo looks at Ringo's empty seat. A classmate asks Michiyo if Ringo is coming to school and that there are many reporters outside. Michiyo looks at Kazuomi's empty seat and says that it seems that Kazuomi is not coming to school either.
In Ringo's house, Ringo's mother says that here are many people outside, reporters and some girls. Ringo says to herself that she did not think that their simple outing to the carnival would become like this. Ringo then says it is like being a famous idol. Her mother seconds her saying, it is like being Mahito. Ringo's father is not so happy because of the gossips and bad media, they cannot show the biscuit advertisement. Watanabe calls and tells her about the situation in the station. He also tells her that they will think of a way out and that Mahito is worried about her. Then the phone rings again, thinking it is Mahito, she immediately answers it. It is a fan telling her not to take Mahito from them and they hate her. The neighbor comes by asking them to ask the people outside to go. Ringo's mother tells Ringo not to go to school. Ringo then realizes the impact of what is really happening.
The agent is sermoning Mahito of what he has done. Mahito apologizes for his carelessness. The agent tells him that he should cut off any relationship with Ringo. Mahito asks even as friends. The agent says that he should think about it and starts to says not nice things about Ringo. Mahito gets angry that what happened is his responsibility. He goes off and remembers Ringo asking him if he is lonely, so he starts to call her.
The telephone is ringing but Ringo's mother tells her not to answer it. Kazuomi comes to visit and Ringo rushes to hug him. Kazuomi tells her to stop or she'll squish the honeydew melon he is holding. Kazuomi tells her about the honeydew melon being hard to cultivate so it is expensive. Ringo comments that it is like Mahito. Kazuomi gets ticked off that Mahito is mentioned. Ringo says that when apple and honeymelon are together, the others will be angry since the other girls are angry that they were together. Kazuomi tells her that the apple [Apple is Ringo in Japanese] is a magical fruit since if put in the refrigerator with other fruits, they will become sweet and ripe. That is the effect of the apple like you, since when someone like Mahito is with you, everyone is at ease and feels happy so without Ringo, 'Happy Cooking Hour' cannot happen.
Ringo then starts to cry. Kazuomi is surprised, saying that he is trying to console her so why is she crying. Ringo asks if she can really do it. In order for her to stop crying, Kazuomi then asks her if she has seen an apple flower. Kazuomi tells her that it belongs to the rose family so the apple orchard becomes white and beautiful when they blooms. Ringo says that she want to see them sometime. Kazuomi tells her that she can see them whenever she wants. Then, Kazuomi says he has to go to school. Ringo asks him to tell Michiyo not to worry about her. Kazuomi says he will tell Michiyo. As Kazuomi is about to leave, Ringo thanks him then asks him to think of a nice recipe for the honeydew melon. Kazuomi says he will and she should also.
After some time, the house becomes quiet and the gossip fades away. On
the
'Happy Cooking Hour 2' show, they had a special on summer festival.
They tell
the audience that they were just shooting for the show that is held in
the
carnival and it is not really a date. Mahito then reassures his fans
not to
worry. The fans buy it as they watch the show especially when Mahito
winks at
them. Ringo shows him the honeydew melon that has been made into a
dessert.
When they cut it open, it is a sherbet inside. After the show, Mahito
apologizes for the mess he got her into and asks if the fans did
anything to
her. Ringo says it is nothing because she is strong. Ringo tells him
that her
father is happy since the biscuit commercial can already be shown in
television
and that if Mahito wants to go out again, they should not let the
others know
about it. Fireworks are lit in the sky. Ringo then asks what is
Mahito's
favorite fruit. Mahito says it is honeydew melon. Ringo laughs saying
that her
guess is right that Mahito has the feeling of a honeydew melon. Mahito
then
tells her that he also likes apple. Ringo is surprised as Mahito tells
her
good
work and left. Ringo wonders if she is the one being talked about or is
it the
fruit.
