Syaoran Li: Descendant of the Masters

Originally Sakura's rival, Li battles her for both the Clow Cards and the affection of her dear Yuki. Eventually, though, they are forced to put aside their differences to capture the cards...before it's too late.

    Li transfers to Sakura's school after moving to Tokyo from Hong Kong. He is not there just for a change in scenery, though; he's after the Clow Cards.
     You see, Li is a distant relative of the cards' creator himself, Clow Reed. Clow Reed had an English father and a Chinese mother, resulting in the strange magic he created in a mix of Eastern and Western styles. Clow's mother was a powerful magician herself, from the Syaoran family.
     So, Li is pretty far down the line on Clow's mother's side, but still possesses some fairly powerful magic. In addition, he has a handy device called the "derivator", which can find Clow Cards.   Unfortunately for him, though, Sakura has the support of the guardian beast, (though, Kero is hardly a beast...Li calls him a stuffed animal!), and has much more luck in capturing the cards.
     Li also has a little thing for Yuki, a highschooler who's friends with Sakura's brother, Touya. Sakura happens to like Yuki, too, so she and Li are constantly warring for his favor and attention. Poor Li, though, nearly always ends up blushing and running away when Yuki is around.
