A little explanation of blood types...

Let's see, this has been copied many times, but if you haven't seen it yet, here:

(see, we don't plagiarize, well... maybe a *little*)

In Japanese pop culture, blood type is thought to be related to personality. This belief became popular in the early '80s. Profiles of manga artists or characters from manga will often include blood type along with other statistics like age and place of birth. A very rough guide to blood types:

A nervous, introverted, honest, loyal
B outgoing, optimistic, adventurous
AB proud, diplomatic, discriminating
O workaholic, insecure, emotional

So, according to the profiles out of the manga (translated by Tasuki No Miko Everyone's split up like this:

type A: Hotohori, Chiriko

type B: Miaka (who would have guessed?), Nuriko, Tasuki, Amiboshi, Suboshi

type AB: Tomo, Yui (boy do I pity her...)

type O: Tamahome, Mitsukake, Soi

Ok, so thinking back to Manga #2, Hotohori and Miaka should be compatible right? Wrong... But if storybooks actually followed real world (what real world? :) rules where would we be now? Ok, if you don't know that the hell I'm talking about (most people don't), here:

"Generally, people with type A blood can safely receive blood form A's and O's, while type B recipients are safe with blood from B's and O's. People whose blood type is AB are known as universal recipients, because their blood is compatible with types AB, A, B, and O. Type O people, on the other hand, are safe only with blood from type O donors, but they are themselves so-called universal donors, because they can give blood to anyone."

And there's your Biology lesson for the day...

So, I guess that means Hotohori and Nuriko could never share blood, sniff... well, if it's any consolation, Chiriko and Hotohori can. (ooh, that would make me *soooo* happy... I really ought to stop picking on the little guy: Six year olds can't stick up for themselves. :) And that everyone can give Tomo blood, although who would want to... I would gladly cut out his vocal cords though.
