TENCHI 101
Q: WHAT IS TENCHI 101?
A: [Yagami Makibi]: book that Kajishima made (edited by Kuroda Yousuke, I think) to explain many "mystery" of the Tenchi-verse. After all, many things are not well explained nor shown.
Q: IS TENCHI 101 CANNON?
A: Technically it is, however not all fans believe it ;-) Tenchi 101 (here after referred to as 101) many times contradicts what the OAV series says. For instance, 101 claims that the gem on Ryoko's neck is needed to control any monsters she might conjure. In the OAV series, that is not so, the Gem on her right wrist is the controlling gem.
Q: WHAT THINGS DO TENCHI 101 INTRODUCE, THAT IS NOT SAID IN THE OAV SERIES.
A: 101 gives some details about the key's and their nature. The Key's according to 101, are formed from the bark of the Tree and the Sap. 101 also establishes that the lower the generation of the key, the more "powerful" the key is. 101 continues to say that the Keys follow a pyramidal power structure, that is, any 1st generation key, can control all 2nd generation trees, as well as the first generation key it was formed from.
101 also maintains that Nobiyuki was also a descendent of Yosho, from a different side of the family.
Tenchi 101 also states that the gem have a purpose on Ryoko, depending On where they are. The Gem in the right wrist is for offensive power, the left for defensive, and the neck for central power (it also states that their functions only vary based on location, which means the three gems are equal when their outside of Ryoko's body, and only take on different functions when they become part of her... So it's the way Ryoko was designed, the gems could've been, and almost certainly were, "created" long before Ryoko was).

Q: WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF TENCHI 101? / WHAT IS THE TRANSLATION?
A: Tenchi 101 was written in Japanese, however several translations have been floating around for a while. The most common translation, is actually a summary of Tenchi 101, not a word for word translation. However, these translations are illegal. Pioneer asked that no-one distribute them, and threatened lawsuits if they were posted publicly. Given the rising popularity of Tenchi Muyo on this side of the border, it may soon be available.
Thanks to AIC and Pioneer for bringing us such a fantastic series and thanks to everyone who's backgrounds, images, and site lists I used to make this page!
