Saimon Fumi

Saimon Fumi's real name is Kuka Noriko. She was born in 1957 in Tokushima City, and she had graduated in Gosamizu Women's Univerisity with a degree in Philosophy. Married to Kuka Norifumi, the famous artist known for his business comics, she also has two children. Her works include the manga series Tokyo Love Story and Classmates which both became big hits when they were translated into prime-time TV dramas in 1991. She also wrote Asanaro Hakushyo (The Arborvitae White Paper), as well as short series like Shin Dousei Jidai (New Days of Cohabitation) and Sakura Bomb, and even various essays about love and relationships. Apart from being big hits in Japan, the translated versions of Saimon's manga were also popular in countries like Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Her stories simply-drawn, Saimon's style is always detailed in the fine points of her characters' psychology. So are her sincere attempts to portrait peoples' lives as is. The appeal of her comics lie mostly in how they realistically represent today's lives and relationships. No matter what stage of life, the rich stories are bound to strike a chord.
