Sailor Moon was an animated series that originated in Japan, also known as 'anime.' The storyline was based on manga (Japanese Comic) created by Takeuchi Naoko. Naoko created Sailor Moon in relation to a previous manga, "Codename Sailor V" (Sailor Venus). The story of Sailor V needed more characters and a thicker plot, thus Sailor Moon was born.
The show's final series ended on February 8, 1997.
Sailor Moon found its way through many other countries, spreading across from Europe to North America. In North America, Sailor Moon took on a whole new change, unfortunatly for the worse. DIC sponsered the English dubbing of Sailor Moon and broadcasted it all over the continent. This 'new' version was aimed at young girls, therefore many violent and threatening scenes were cut/changed. However many unnecessary and ridiculous changes were also done.
