Endeavour-X3Concept Speaker Cable The Endeavour family of speaker cables are the natural progession of a single design philosophy. Endeavour-X3 is that philosophy taken to its natural limits. I haven't made this cable, and I don't know yet whether it would be worth making. Endeavour-X3 exists only on paper.
Extrapolated electrical data for Endeavour-X3 :
Endeavour-X3 isn't for the faint hearted, and I can't guarentee that the law of diminishing returns won't have kicked in. It is not an expensive cable, the cost is instead in the time it takes to make it. The cable would be equivalent to 9 AWG wire, with - if the extrapolation is valid - an inductance of about 0.10 uH and a characteristic impedance of 20 ohms. Impressive, to say the least. Lastly, Endeavour-X3 is the end of this chapter. It isn't practical to try to improve the LCR values any further, using this geometry and Cat 5 data cable. A new design approach must be conceived of, possibly a radically new one which seeks to optimise quite different parameters. The problem is that while LCR values are easy to measure, other parameters are much harder. For now Endeavour-X3 is my last word in DIY speaker cable design. |
