JUPITER KNIGHT PART IX Previously, Lita and Darien were discussing something very important. Lita admitted that she loved someone other than Ken. "Is that who you love?" Darien asked. "Well, I'm not done yet." Lita continued, "This morning, as I was walking to school, I met up with Don. You know the new guy at our school." Good, at least it's not that guy who attacked last night, Darien thought silently. Lita was still talking, "He was acting kind of funny. Like he wanted to get with me. I told him I already had a boyfriend. He looked sad and had these puppy dog eyes. We were still walking towards school. He stopped and pulled me to the park. He said he had something really important to do. I told him to tell me later and that we had to get to school." "Then what happened?" "He said, 'Come with me, Sailor Jupiter.' I said I wasn't Sailor Jupiter and he told me to stop pretending. I followed him to the park. I was about to transform, but he pinned my arms down. He told me that his brother was after me." "Why would his brother be after you?" Darien was confused. "Don't you get it? Don and his brother are the two that were taking the energy!" Lita cried. "He warned me about his brother." "Don and one of those guys do look alike." Darien commented. "Don walked away, leaving me there. I saw this wierd cloud that turned into the short guy that was there last night. He started attacking me. Don came back, protected me, but in the process, he hurt himself. He's not as bad as you think. He saved my life. The short guy was going to kill me! He busted his own brother to save me. He called me his love!" Lita blurted it all out, new tears spilling down. Darien gave her another tissue and though a while. This was a tough problem. He knew that Lita went for every guy that saved her, helped her, or did something nice to her. So far, it wasn't as bad as this. Ever since she and Ken got together, she's been in love with him only. It was destiny that guided them together, and if things went right, they were suppose to stay together. He didn't know what to do. Finally, he gave an answer, "Is it love or is it gratitude?" Lita looked at him with tear filled eyes, "I don't know it's so confusing. I know that it's destiny that me and Ken stay together, but sometimes, I can't stand it when my whole life is laid out in front of me." "I know what you mean." Darien said. "I still love him." "I know." Just then, Serena walked in. She looked at Darien, sitting with Lita. Then she looked at Lita, in tears and head hung low. She sat next to Lita, looking confused. "Why aren't you in school?" she said. "Why aren't you?" Darien asked. "We were attacked. One of those creeps from last night came and just started zapping all these girls. The scouts didn't have a chance to do anything because the other one, the better looking one started fighting him." Serena said in one exhale. "Is he alright?" Lita looked up. "Who?" "The better looking guy." "Yeah, he got pretty banged up, but the short guy backed out. Isn't it wierd how they turned on each other?" Serena wondered. "Tell me what's worng Lita?" The other scouts walked in, and saw Lita there with Serena and Darien. Lita once again had to explain everything, including the thing about Don. Darien, who had heard this already had started to drift off sleeping. "Darien! Wake up you lazy bone!" Serena screamed in his ear. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ That night, Lita sat in bed thinking. She thought about how much she still loved Ken, and she thought of what Darien asked her. Was it love or gratitude. She was sure that she felt some love to Don. He had seen so loveless. Next to her bed was a sealed envelop containing a letter she had written to Ken. She would mail it the next morning. Lita jumped when she heard tapping at her window. At first she thought it was just a bird, since her apartment was on the third floor. She cancelled that thought, since she knew that the birds didn't do those things at night. Lita slipped on a robe and walked cautiously to the window. She screamed when she lifted up the curtains to see what it was. Don was looking back at her. He pulled the windows open and stepped in. "What are you doing here?" she asked, clutching her robe close. "Hurry. You have to leave here! My brother's coming for you." Don grabbed for her hand. "Wait, let me dress." "No time. Come with me." Don pulled her to the window. "We can't jump. We'll break a bone." "No I can fly. Come, time is running out. He's on wis way right now!" Don stepped out of the window, floating in the air. Lita looked down nervously, and clutched at Don. He grabbed her around the waist and slowly floated down. When Lita felt the ground beneath her, she stopped holding him so tightly. He let go and led her running. The two of them ran into the park where it was dark and no one could find them. They finally reached there, Lita out of breath. Don sat her down on the grass, "Take a break. We can't stay here. Once Calbrom finds out I took you, he'll start hunting everywhere for you." "Is Calbrom your brother, Don?" Lita said breathlessly. "Yes. I think you should know that my name isn't Don. It's Galdon. I had to change it so I could pretend to be an average human." Galdon said. "You guys aren't human?" "No. Not exactly. We are the next step in evolution. Follow me. I'll tell you whatever you want to know later. We have to find somewhere to hide first." Once again, they were running away. Lita hated to run away. Her style was to stay and fight till the end, yet she knew that this incident was different. If she stayed and fought it out, there would be no chance. She didn't know where she was going, but all she knew was that she was getting there fast. Lita was surprised at how long she could keep this running up. They reached the stairs into a house. It was more of a cottage. From the outside, it looked as if there was no more than one or two rooms. The grass outside of it were mostly wild weeds. "Where are we?" Lita asked. "My house." Gadon walked toward the door and opened it. He had moved out after his brother had threatened to disown him. He found this little cottage all by himself. He let Lita in, embarassed by the mess everything was in. He went to a small desk pushed back into the corner. On it was a plane ticket for Lita. He had to get her out of here as fast as he can. Calbrom was going to be looking for her soon. It wasn't safe to stay here. Galdon picked up the tickets and handed them to Lita. "What is this?" Lita asked, curious at the dark papers in her hands. "It's a plane ticket out of here. Do you family who live in other parts of the world? Go there." Galdon said. "No. I have no family." Lita bowed her head sadly at the thought of her late parents. "You have to get as far away from this place as possible." "My boyfriend is in France." Galdon cringed at the thought of Lita and another man. He sighed and said, "Go to him." "I can't" Lita blushed. "Why not?" "I hate planes. Personal reasons. Please don't make me go on one." "You have to." "No." "Go! It's your only chance." Galdon was getting imaptient. It wouldn't be long now. "Don! Galdon, I can't. I can't just leave all my friends behind." Lita begged. "Here." Galdon shoved a crunched up piece of paper in her hand. Lita opened it and tried to read what it was. It was the letter Ken wrote to her. "What?" "The return address is on it. I'll take you to the airport. You can find your way from there." Galdon said firmly. Lita's hands went absently at the silk tie that she tied around her wrist as a reminder of Ken, Jupiter Knight. She didn't say anything, just followed Galdon out onto a motorcycle partly hidden by the overgrown bush. "Hop on." Galdon said as he got in front. Lita got in back, looking for some sort of seatbelt. Obviously there was none. "I'm going to fall off." she said. "Hold on to me." Galdon's voice cracked when he said that. Lita slid her arms nervously around his waist and held on tight. "Can you take me back to my apartment? I want to get some things." "You better hurry." With a low growl of the motorcycle, they sped off toward Lita's house. They reached the house in a few minutes, considering the speed they were going. Lita hopped off quickly and made her way up the winding stairs. She had a bad feeling as she reached the top. Her door was open, she could see inside. Everything was a mess. She saw that all her picture frames were broken, the pictures inside burned. Her desk looked searched through. On it was a piece of paper, in wide black letters, it said: I WILL FIND YOU. She went into her bedroom and saw her bed was upturned, the sheets were ripped and the contents on her nightstand were thrown on the floor. Her perfume bottles shattered. Lita forced herself to remain calm. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. They were only possesions. Things that didn't mean anything. At least her friends were okay. She took out a small duffle bag and threw some clothes in it. She didn't know what the weather would be so she took a large jacket with her. As she was quickly packing, she didn't hear Galdon come in. Tears fell onto her clothes. Galdon was so sorry for this girl, who had no family. He saw she was crying. He went up behind her and put his arms around her. She didn't do anything, just stood there crying. "I'm so sorry." Was all Galdon could say. He didn't know what else to say. Lita turned around and put her face against his warm chest. She was staining his shirt with her tears, but she couldn't help it. "All my prized possesions. All my pictures! They're ruined." Galdon hugged her tighter. She was trembling now. She sobbed hard into his shirt. Then, after a few minutes, she stood up straight, looking at him with a tear streaked face. She wiped the tears away and faced her duffle bag. When she thought she brought everything she needed, quietly, she walked out of the room. Galdon followed her. He saw all the damage his brother had done and hated him for it. What was this thing that was making him so evil, so full of hatred. Lita took one more look around and sighed. "I guess we should go." Galdon took the duffle bag from her hand and carried it for her. Lita locked the door and walked down the stairs. When the bag was secured onto the motorcycle, she got on after Galdon. She put her arms around him and they sped to the airport. On the way to the airport, Lita cried softly, tears blowing into the wind. Before she knew it, they were infront of the airport parking lot. She had to face the fear. She got off slowly, reaching for the bag. "I got it." Galdon said and reached it before her. "Thank you." "It's the least I can do." Galdon walked into the revolving doors. "Did you get your ticket?" "Yes." she was still clutching it in her hand. Galdon took it and gave it to a man who looked like he worked there. The man pointed down a long hall. They walked down, until they reached the door that led into the plane. Lita looked out the large windows at the plane. It looked big and scary. She felt someone put a hand on her shoulder. She turned and looked into those wide aqua eyes. She couldn't believe that once, those eyes were so evil. If they once were evil, it can again be evil in a second. Lita shuddered at the thought. Looking into his eyes again, she saw that he loved her. She wasn't sure if she loved him back, the way he wanted. Is it love or gratitude? Darien's voice echoed into her ears. I love you. Ken's voice entered her mind. My love, Galdon's voice broke through. She put an arm around him and hugged him tightly. She couldn't decide if she really loved him. He put the bag down and took her in his strong arms. He never felt so much love for anyone before. She was the first person who made him feel this way. Living an evil life full of greed and lies, all changed because of her. Yet, he knew she didn't love him as much as the one named Ken. He couldn't understand why she would choose a human over him. He sighed. "Thank you so much. I'll never forget all this." Lita whispered, looking up at him. She was tall, but just a few inches shorter than he was. She fingered a strand of his platinum blonde hair. It was smooth and soft. "Good bye." Was all he could think of to say. He wanted to saw all the things in his mind, but he didn't want to make this hard for her. To his surprise, she placed a sweet kiss on his cheek. He wanted more. Galdon fiddled with a strand of loose hair that hung from her ponytail. Nothing was ever as soft. The closest thing was pure silk. He leaned down and placed his mouth over her small lips. It was like kissing an angel. He could hardly tell she was there, but it was heaven. She leaned harder on him, kissing him back. Lita wasn't sure why she was kissing him back, but she knew one thing, it made him happy. Ken's face popped into her mind. She immediatly pulled away, feeling guilt like a poison sting every part of her body. Galdon looked at her. "Goodbye, Galdon." Lita said softly, picked up her bag and walked towards the door. She handed her ticket to the airline clerk. "I'll let you know when to come back." Galdon called after her. Lita waved and walked into the plane. She stopped dead when she saw how small it was from the inside. Immediatly, she felt claustrophobic. She walked back outside, almost reaching the door out of the plane. Galdon was waiting, with a stern face. "Go." he mouthed. She turned back, and walked back in. She took a seat in the middle aisle. She sat down and looked around nervously. Everyone seemed to be looking at her. Lita looked down at her bag. There was something taped on it. She picked it up. It was a note folded to the size of a lemon. She read it: Thank you for making me feel like this. What I have done isn't as nearly enough for what you have done. You have showed me love. Lita took it, folded it and put it into her bag, smiling. Galdon stood staring as the plane took off. He didn't want Lita to go, knowing that she'll find Ken, and realize that she didn't really love him. He had to. For once, he's not going to think about himself and do something good to others. Ken woke up, confused. It was still dark. He turned in his bed, shoked when something poked his leg. He looked down and saw it was the sword Jupiter Knight had. A closer look showed that he had somehow transformed in his sleep. He concentrated and his clothes turned into his normal pajamas. If you love her, let her go. If she loves you, she will come back. Ken thought about that. Would Lita come back? Would she come back? What about Galdon? Who is Lita going to chose?
