X Japan

PATA HIDE YOSHIKI TOSHI HEATH

X Japan consited of five members. Toshi was the vocalist for the band.Hide and Pata shared the guitar duties, often performing dual solos.Taiji and then Heath provided the backing on bass. Yoshiki played the drums and the piano.

X had mastered the mixing of symphonic ballads and fast guitar riffs over fast, heavy drums. The group's musical diversity helped them to create a very unique, and in my opinion, incredible sound.

The group X had undergone a few changes since its offical forming in 1986-87. One big change was the change of bass players from Taiji to Heath after the recording of the album "Art Of Life". Another was the change of their name from X to X Japan after conflicts with the American band named X.

They have since disbanded due to a variety of reasons, not the least being the passing of hide. However, X has left there mark on music both in Japan and internationally and will never be forgotten. Though bands like By-Sexual really started the visual scene, it was X that made it main stream and allowed many of Japan's top acts today to achieve the level that they have. They were and will remain one of the most influential bands in recent history.
