Rurouni Kenshin Character Guide
Main Characters:

Kenshin Himura
Seiyuu = Suzukaze Mayo
A wanderer and reformed assassin, now he fights to protect the innocent.
Formerly known as Hitokiri Battosai. His katana is sharpened only on the
back side of the blade so that he can fight without killing. He is 28
years old with red hair and an 'X' shaped scar on his face. He is a
master of the sword, but is easily confused by women. He speaks very
politely, his favorite word is "Oro?"

Kaoru Kamiya
She is the owner of the Kamita kendo dojo, having inherited it from her
father. She is 17 years old, and very cute. She tends to get in over
her head trying to help others and requires Kenshin to bail her out.
Definitely not famous for her cooking. She does NOT get along with Yahiko,
and spends a lot of time chasing him around with a shinai (bamboo sword)
seeking vengeance.

Yahiko Myojin
He used to be a yakuzu boy, until he tried to steal Kenshin's wallet.
Now he's a student at the Kamiya dojo, and wants to learn the sword to
be like Kenshin (his idol). Only 10 years old, he is not known for
thinking ahead, and he tends to get into trouble because of it. His main
hobby is insulting/teasing Kaoru.

Sanosuke Sagara
Unbelievably strong, now a resident of the Kamiya dojo. Initially, he
wields an enormous sword, now he just uses his hands. He is 19 and has
a lot to learn. He used to work as a mercenary, and was manipulated by
the Hiruma brothers into fighting Kenshin.

Kihei Hiruma
An old man, who at first seems good. He is 45, and not likely to make
46 the way he is going on. He can't fight, but he carries a pistol and
thinks he's God because of it. Do not buy a used car from this man.

Gohee Hiruma
A big bearded brute, and younger brother of Himura Kihei. He is 37 years
old, and used to be a senior student at the Kamiya Dojo 11 years ago when
he was thrown out of the dojo for attacking and wounding another student.
Kaoru's father broke his thumb disarming him, and told him to never come
back. Obviously, he has a big grudge against the Kamiya family. Not know
for intelligence or discretion, he'll keep coming back to cause trouble
until he's dead, which probably won't be long.

Aritomo Yamagata
Army Commander? Police chief? He has been searching for Kenshin for
ten years. He doesn't want to believe that Kenshin is reformed, think
of him as Inspecter Javert from Les Miserables. Unfortunately for him,
his entire squad is no match for Kenshin, so his quest to arrest him is
pretty much doomed to failure.

Tae Sekihara
Owner of the "Akabeko" sukiyaki restaurant. Typical Japanese hostess,
pretty and well-refined. Akabeko is the preferred hangout of the Kamiya
dojo residents, eventually the local thugs should learn to stop trying to
cause trouble there.

Mr. Policeman
I haven't found out his real name yet. He's the local police lieutenant,
but he and his men often end up outclassed against the bad guys of this
series, and he usually ends up begging Kenshin for help.

Jusanro Tani
A very rich man, the target of Kurogasa. Probably a big man in local
politics from the way he acts.

Jine Udo "Kurogasa"
An assassin who looks like an escaped X-man or maybe Zeiram. A vicious
fighter, he does not hesitate to kill as many people as he has to if they
get in his was. He is searching for a worthy opponent, and has found one
in Kenshin. Unscrupulous, he is not above kidnapping or blackmail to get
what he wants. Uses two katana, much like the historical character:
Musashi Miyamoto (circa 1200).

Megumi Takani
Ahen no onna. (I think "Ahen" is "Opium".) She is very beautiful and
also very sly. She will say and do anything to get her own way.

Kanryuu Takeda
Rich, and evil with it.

Beshimi
Bird-like ninja, special weapon - poison shells flicked at high speed.

Hyoutoko
Giant fat man, special weapon - breathing fire.

Hannya
Another ninja, he wears an oni mask. Very fast, he's much more dangerous
than Beshimi or Hyoutoko.

Tsubame Sanjou
Seiyuu = Shiratori Yuri
Girl who works at Akabeko. Yahikos fancy. Appears in a side-story
about Yahiko.

Mikio Nagaoka
Yakuza type who extorts money from Tsubame.

Miyauchi Maekawa
Martial Arts Teacher, friend of Kaorus father.

Yutarou Tsukayama
