(yeah, I know, there hasn't been an update in a LONG TIME ... sorry! -you know those times you just get lost in too much stuff ?...) I recently bought an old 1998 Studio Ghibli calendar so I'll be able to add the OYM scan from there in the wallpaper section (if that page ever gets made). I saw the 2001 Ghibli calendar over Christmas, and unfortunately it doesn't contain a scene from OYM. It does have in its place (?) a watercolor drawing from Studio Ghibli's new movie, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, currently due out in July later this year (in Japan). Recently Mononoke Hime was shown on television in Japan, and a preview video for Sen premiered afterwords. Luckily someone captured the preview, and it's now available at Nausicaa.net here. One more thing, the Princess Mononoke DVD released by Miramax is great! Although I wish they could have used the Making of Mononoke Hime for parts of their featurette, the seamless branching used for the Japanese opening and end credits gives it a nice touch.

(1) I recently finished a paper called "Ikiro, Living in On Your Mark, Mononoke, and Nausicaa". It sums up how I interpret OYM, and hopefully I'll summarize its topics in the 'analysis' section soon. (2) Finals week - Afterwords tons of updating (3) Filmscores has sent me his brief review on OYM .. ^^ I'll try and put it up soon. (4) Princess Mononoke is showing in Austin again at Discount Cinema 8. Click on this link and search for Princess Mononoke under movie titles. (5) You probably know this already but AX2000 will have the US premiere of the new Escaflowne movie, Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea. Watching Tenchi Muyo in Love 2 and Spriggan at AX last year was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.
