HISTORY

Welcome to the new and improved METRO ANIME web site. This is the official web site of METRO ANIME.

THE HISTORY OF METRO ANIME FROM START TO FINISH.

1995: Formed by Chet Jasinski of the AaA. The Meetings were held in Sabu Sabu in Upper Manhattan.

1995-Sept.1996: Was run by Jenny Chang, a senior at SVA and Alex Hawson, president of Anime Club of Columbia.

Oct. 1996: Brian Mah took over position as president of METRO ANIME from Alex Hawson.

Nov. 7, 1996: Logo was created, which featured a SD model of statue of liberty. nicknamed "Missy Liberty" and motto "IN ANIME WE TRUST" was established.

Nov. 16,1996: Brian Mah was officially recogized by the AaA as president of METRO ANIME.

Dec. 1996: 1st. official meeting of METRO ANIME under Brian Mah.

METRO ANIME 1st went on-line at http://geocities.datacellar.net/Tokyo/Towers/4548.

Mar. 22, 1997:METRO ANIME went on the web in the "Sci-fi" channel's dominion page in the colony section under keywords: "Metro Anime Schedule."

METRO ANIME was recogized by the School of Visual Arts as an official club.

Sept. 1997: METRO ANIME established an internet e-mail and 1st class mail Mailing List.

Oct. 11, 1997: METRO ANIME has over 60 members.

February 21, 1998: METRO ANIME has over 120 members!!!!!!

March 7, 1998: 1st. Draft of the METRO ANIME constitution was created.

June 4, 1998: "Missy Liberty" and METRO ANIME logo were officially copyrighted and protected.

July 18, 1998: The METRO ANIME LENDING LIBRARY was established. Seth Robertson, Michelle Tang, Angela Washington, and Amy Chan helped organize the library.

November 14, 1998: The METRO ANIME Constitution was approved and ratified by a majority of the members that attended. This constitution will help assist the new officers in the approching Millennium.

November 24, 1998: METRO ANIME constitution is added to the offical web site under the Constutition section.

August 21, 1999: Brian Mah retires as President after three years of service. A student cabinet was elected to help with the club until the elections in November.

October 15, 1999: METRO ANIME launches a new version of the web site: www.geocities.com/metroanime

November 1999: Serge Marcos and Becky Cloonan establishes weekday meetings to accomidate and bring in more SVA students.
