 A very well drawn manga by Watase Yuu that runs in Shogakkan's Shoujo Comic. The manga had been made into animated series and OVA over the past few years. It has become a very popular animated series in Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. The manga series has already been extended into the second part of the story while the anime haven't. The animation had only been made up till the end of the first story. The entire set of the manga is 18 volumes, which is all available out in the market. The new set of manga called Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden started in 2003 and is a side story of the Genbu Clan.
