Does the traditional Chinese calendar have a 7-day week the same as the European calendar? If not, how many days are in a week in the traditional Chinese calendar?
Valinda, USA

The traditional Chinese calender does not hava a 7-day week. But nowadays the calender is published alongside the Gregorian one, and the 7-day week in common use.

Officially, the lunar month is not sub-divided into smaller units. However, the people will usually think of the 29 or 30 days month as 3 thirds. The first third of the month (or Upper Xun) consist of day 1-9 of the month, the second (Middle Xun) consist of day 10-19, the third (Lower Xun) consist of the remiding 9-10 days of the month. So you can say that, in a way the Chinese calender operates in 10 day weeks.
