The Mikado Ichiban Chronology and Reality Notes
(or, "Where It All Fits")
'Mikado Ichiban - Zembun Otoko!' (MKI hereafter) is, of course, based on
characters and situations in the Ranma 1/2 universe; there are, however,
some significant distinctions. First, while events herein parallel
occurences in the mainstream, the two realitites merge at a few specific
points - the first of these being the series' second through fifth
episodes.
While not that much attention is paid in mainstream Ranma 1/2 to the flow
of time, MKI has a definite timeline (see below) which is woven into what
would be our own 1990s... except for a few differences. Technology, for
one, has advanced at a somewhat faster rate, some global situations are not
quite the same, and there are some changes to the political scene; however,
it is a reality not all that different from our own.
