Chronicles of Dominia

Dominia. A land of Magic and Sorcery, a multiverse of creatures and places. From the lush continent of Jamuraa to the forgotten world of the Homelands, here you can find many different kinds of people, mysterious places, and strong creatures that strike fear in the hearts of all.

Of all of Dominia's planes, the plane of Dominaria is the focal point of Planeswalkers everywhere. Here in Dominaria thrive many nations and cultures, and stories of the great sagas that tell of the rise and fall of the empires.

What are Planeswalkers? Planeswalkers are special individuals who can travel the different planes of Dominia. They can draw mana from all over the multiverse, and summon creatures from one plane while they are in another. They are considered as Gods and Goddesses all throughout the multiverse.

Planeswalkers have to be trained by another "Walker" to learn to control their powers. But some did not undergo the training, becoming Planeswalkers due to a moment of crisis. Such individuals are a danger to everyone around them, such as the Battlemage Ravidel.

Dominaria is the setting for every Magic expansion except for Arabian Nights and Homelands. Most of these expansions are focused upon one of Dominaria's continents such as Terisiare, Jamuraa, and the Domains.

Long ago, there was a war on the continent of Terisiare. The two brothers, Urza and Mishra, fought on this continent using many powerful artifacts. The war brought about a series of climatic changes across the world. Modern-day Terisiare is different from the ancient continent of the Brother's War. It is now divided into 4 land masses. Among these land masses lie the civilization of New Argive. Borne from the alliance between Kjeldor and Balduvia, New Argive is the major seat of learning.

6,000 miles east of Terisiare lies a group of continents and islands, known as the Domains. Here in the Domains lie many places and empires: Benalia; neighboring Avenant with it's archers and warriors; the forests of Llanowar, Savea, and Shanodin; the mountains and nation of Hurloon; Foriys, home of monstrous giants; Mirtiin and Stahaan, home of nations of Minotaurs; Veruda, home of the mysterious enchantresses; Keld and the kingdom of Parma, home of the Keldon Warlords and Northern Paladins.

To the east of the Domains lie the continent of Corondor, the site of a recent war between a handful of planeswalkers. Corondor has fallen on hard times in the wake of the war, and it may be centuries before it fully recovers from the disaster.

To the south of Corondor lies Jamuraa. To the northwest of the continent lies the Burning Isles and the mage Kaervek, whose predations are in the sets Mirage and Visions. Much of Jamuraa is controlled by the Suq'Ata Empire and the Viashino.

Far to the northeast lies Shiv, home of the Shivan and Viashivan dragons. Shiv is an inhospitable volcanic land mass which sits within a deep-ocean "ring of fire". This fuels the coastal waters to near-boiling point. The Viashino found out the secret of how to navigate these waters, and control the land of Shiv.

Then there is the continent of Sarpadia, home to the once-great empires that have fallen. Found here are the thrulls and thallids, the Icatians, and the water-dwelling Vodalians and Homarids. Sarpadia is believed to lie far south of Terisiare.

A place mentioned many times in Magic is Phyrexia. Some distance from Dominaria lies the Phyrexian plane. This plane is controlled by artifact creatures; it is a place where artifact creatures go when they die. Even on Dominaria, artifact horrors roam the night awaiting the call of their master's will.

Facts about Dominaria...
Dominaria is a planet similar to Earth. A year is 420 days long and is organized into 12 35-day months. Dominaria's oceans are enormous, separating continents with thousands of miles of water. The oceans are shallower than Earth's, and scattered volcanic activity raised strings of habitable islands that trail like stepping stones across the leagues.

The planet has 2 moons. One, the Mist moon, is large and constantly shrouded by mists. The other, the Glimmer moon (or "Null moon" to the planeswalkers) is an artificial satellite which cackles with occasional huge electrical bursts that arc across it's surface. No one knows who built the moon or for what purpose, but it's believed to have existed long before the Brother's War.

The Weatherlight Saga

The Weatherlight is a flying ship, part of a collection of artifacts known as the Legacy. The Weatherlight has a special ability; the ability to planeshift. The ship's key members consists of: Sisay, the ship's captain; Gerrard, an heir to the Legacy; Hanna, the ship's navigator; Mirri, a cat-warrior from the Llanowqar forest and an old friend of Gerrard; Ertai, a young wizard; and Crovax, who hails from the plane of Urborg.

The Weatherlight's captain, Sisay, was kidnapped by Volrath in an attempt to possess the Legacy. Gerrard, acting as captain of the ship, takes the Weatherlight to the plane of Rath where the crew attempts to rescue Sisay. Facing strange creatures and treacherous villains, the Weatherlight crew makes it's way towards Volrath's mountain stronghold. A lot happens as the crew moves towards their goal, such as a meeting with Volrath's ship, the Predator, commanded by Greven il-Vec, and the damaging of the Weatherlight's planeshifting crystal. Tahngarth, one of the crew members, hitches a ride on board the Predator in an attempt to take back the artifacts stolen from the Weatherlight.

Later on, the crew meets with the Oracle en-Vec, as a result of Gerard falling off the Weatherlight. They are told of a portal that opens to other planes, located at a cliff. The crew left Ertai near the portal as to establish a means of escape in case they were chased, and the rest of the crew heads towards Volrath's stronghold. At the cliff, Ertai meets humanoids known as Shadows. These are creatures who are unable to interact with the real world, and continue on as ghosts in the warfield.
The Weatherlight had to pass through the Cinder Marsh, a cavern filled with Slivers, the Furnace of Rath, and the Death Pits. After they pass through the Death Pits, they arrive in Volrath's stronghold, located in the heart of a mountain. They must find Tahngarth and Karn, take back the pieces of the Legacy, and rescue Sisay. The crew descends into the stronghold leaving Hanna, Orim, and Squee behind with the ship.

This section will constantly be updated as Dominia grows in size. I'll try to get the stories of the coming new expansions!
