This animated special has taken a lot of flak, because it's really not at all in the style or wishes of the creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama. I disagree; I think it's pretty good (but then again, I think GT is pretty good, and lots of other people hate it). You just have to remember that it's not really Dragon Ball. It's not at all Dragon Ball. The plot has nothing to do with Dragon Ball, and none of the characters are really in it (Pan and Gokuu are just there as tokens, really). And most of all, the style is completely different. Just remember that it's really not bad, as long as you don't expect it to be Dragon Ball.
A note about the romanization of "Goku",
In the rest of the Kissaten, I've romanized the name of Dragon Ball's hero as Son Gokuu, since that is the closest to the actual Japanese pronunciation of the kanji. There is no one official romanization; FUNmation writes it as "Goku," and I've seen it spelled as many different ways as "Goku," "Gokou," and "Gokuh"--all on official Dragon Ball products from Japan. In the Dragon Ball GT TV Special, though, the name "Goku" is written on Goku's T-shirt and backpack, so I've chosen to romanize the name that way for this translation.
