Romeo and Juliet Act ll, sc 2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The weight of his words lay heavy on my mind. Could it really be him? Could Tuxedo Mask really be the prince of Earth? I walked home with his cape clutched to my nody, drowning in my thoughts. IF what he said was thrue, then he is the prince, and it was me whom he saved when he dove in front of that sword so many years ago. Does he know me? Does he remember me? Who was the girl that he was talking about whom he thinks is me reborn? Could he know? My mind spun with questions. I needed to think things through. The snow was now about two inches gathered on the ground. And the icy flakes continued to fall. If it wasn't the middle of May, I would think it to be a beautiful sight; The Earth blanketed in a thick covering of white. The air, icy and frigid around me. Each exhale produced a cloud of frozen air. It was like reaching heaven when I finally saw my house in the distance. I was so tired and exhausted, I used my last ounce of energy to run the final block. I walked up the front door and reached for the knob, praying it would open. Even though I had Tuxedo Mask's warm cape wrapped around me, I was still quite cold, and yearned for the warmth of my bed. I reached my trembling hand out to the knob and turned it. A huge weight lifted of my chest as the knob turned gently and the door glided open. I stepped into the warm house and closed the door behind me, looking carefully around the dark room to make sure the coast was clear to detransform. I didn't see anyone, so I clutched my brooch and felt a wave of power wash over me, returning me to my normal form. Still clutching Tuxedo Mask's cape around me, I trudged up the stairs to my room. I tiptoed into my room and gazed at my bed longingly. Luna was curled up in the middle of my bed, buried in the covers. I watched the steady rise and fall of her stomach as she slept peacefully. She looked so sweet sleeping there that I dind't want to move her. Instead, I gathered some pillows and curled up on the floor, wrapping Tuxedo Mask's cape around me. Closing my eyes, I inhaled the sweet smell of roses and drifted off into a dream. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night of the Dream --> Chapter 2 Interlude Queen Serenity's Point of View (Usagi's mother, not Neo Queen Serenity) "Care keeps his watch in every old man's eye, And where care lodges, sleep will never lie; But where unbruised youth will unstuff'd brain Doth couch his limbs, there golden sleep doth reigh." Romeo and Juliet Act ll sc 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everything seems ready. Janet and her family are in their rooms preparing for the party tonight, at which our children will finally meet. Janet and I had known our children would be soulmates, and decided to betroth them to each other to unite our kingdoms in a bond of blood at last. I was kneeling in the castle's prayer room begging Selene to grant me more time. I wasn't ready. I'm not strong enough. I'm afraid. The all powerful Queen of the Moon is afraid. I know I carry the light of the universe in the crystal, but it is not mine to carry, or to use. I do not have the ability to wield the crystal to it's full potential, to restore the balance. Only my daughter can save us all, and she's not old enough. And she's lacking in the one element that will ignite her power: Life. Without life, there is no use for light. Without light, there would be no life, and the power of life is carried in the golden crystal. But we need the silver crystal to unlock the golden crystal. So tonight I pray. I pray that my daughter is given the chance to live long enough to save us all. Please Selene, grant us time. All we need is time.... I closed my eyes, rocking back and forth slightly. When I opened my eyes, the senshi of death stood before me, along with the senshi of time. I stood up and regained my composure. I knew why they had come. "How long?" I asked as a command rather then a question. "Normally I am never to divulge information of the future, but the timeline has become taboo, and our existance is in jeopardy." Pluto said calmly. I nodded my head. "I knew this was going to happen. I prayed to Selene, but I cannot ask for something she cannot give. I can feel it. Chaos. Surrounding us. The time has come I'm afraid, and there is nothing I can do. The princess is not ready, and the golden crystal is still sealed away." Pluto nodded her head solemnly. Saturn, whom had been silent up until now, stepped forward and spoke with clear conviction. "There is another option. The outer senshi and I have come up with a plan that will grant us the time we need for the princess to mature." She paused, taking a breath, "But this plan comes with a price." Saturn looked up at the prayer tower. "In order to save us all, the Moon Kingdom must be sacrificed." I felt my legs giving out and I grasped onto a nearby ledge to retain my balance. I closed my eyes, allowing a few crystaline tears to slip down my cheeks. "What is involved? How will destroying us....save us?" I couldn't fathom the meaning, or understand why. "My Queen, with the death of the Moon Kingdom, there will be a rebirth. The future will become our sanctuary. Tonight, when Chaos comes, you must send your children to the future. Then Sailor Saturn will destroy the Moon Kingdom, erasing it fromhistory's memory. In doing that, Chaos will be weakened greatly and will be susceptible to the power of the crystal. Then..." A tear slipped down Pluto's cheek as she began telling me the last part of the plan. I silenced her, holding my hand up. I already knew what she was going to say. "Then I use the crystal to seal Chaos away, granting us more time. So to activate the power of the crystal, I must use my own life energy since the power of the golden crystal is still dormant. So in doing so, I die. Never to see my daughter grow up...." Pluto looked upon my sympathetically. Saturn spoke up and finished what my long time friend could not. "The Outer Senshi and I will remain alive during the dark ages, nursing the planet along, preparing for the second coming, and I will go to sleep, lying dormany until I am needed again. Pluto will send Luna to awaken the princess when she is ready to begin training, and to protect the humans form the darkness chaos sends. "The Moon is Chaos' target not, but in the destroying it, that focus will be shifted to Earth." "So the Inner Senshi and the prince will be sent to the future along with the princess because she can't achieve full power without them." Pluto said. "I promise to take care of them myself, an dset the future in motion. Neptune and Uranus are stationing themselves at the edge of the solar system to protect us while our kingdom is vulnerable." I nodded at what Pluto and Saturn said. I sank to the floor. Pluto knelt down beside me and wrapped her arms around me. "Your majesty, I have loved you like a sister. The fall of the Moon Kingdom will be a great loss, but I promise you, if we succeed, the future will be bright, and the princess will live a long and prosperous life." Even though her words were comforting, I found no comfort in them. What is a mother to think knowing her daughter is going to die, and her kingdom forged with blood is going to fall? I had tough choices to make in the next couple hours. Pluto and Saturn disappeared and left me to my privacy. I walked over to the prayer tower, slumped to the floor, and cried. I cried until I couldn't cry anymore, but I still had a sick feeling in my stomach. I felt like throwing up. I got up off the floor and stood shakily on my feet. Regaining my balance, I walked into my room to prepare for the evening's coming events. -end dream -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up and sat on the floor. My cheek was damp from the tears that rolled down it. Why had I just had the dream? What is causing all of this? I looked out my window as the first lights or morning began to poke over the horizon. The sky was still clouded over, but the light of day began to shine through. I got up and stretched out, and instead of Tuxedo Mask's cape sliding off, rose petals fell to the ground. I scratched my head a bit, but over the course of being Sailor Moon, I stopped wondering about such trivial things and just accepted them for what they were worth. I wouldn't be able to explain the petals anyway. I stood up, looking out the window, and glanced back down to the rose petals. Slowly, they began to disappear in golden flashes of light. I smiled a bit. Go figure, I thought. Not much of him seems to hang around. Oh well. It's a good thing, this way Luna won't question why there are rose petals on my floor. Sometime during the night, the snow had stopped, and now lie glistening on the ground. There was actually quite a bit on the ground now. I couldn't tell how much, but it seemed like enough to hope for a day off school! With this new found excitement I ran downstairs. Sure I was tired, but the adrenaline of hope that ran through my compensated. I burst into the kitchen with a wide smile on my face. My mom about dropped the pan of bacon she was handling, and my father just sat there with his jaw agape. "What?" I asked innocently. I knew it was ungodly to see me up this early in the morning. "Wow, Shingo isn't even up..." Mom started. "Yah yah yah." I interrupted. I was in no mood to hear an "I can't believe you're up" lecture from my parents. "I know, but I couldn't sleep, and I couldn't help but notice the snow on the ground, and I was wondering if there was going to be school today..." I crosses my fingers praying that my dream would come true and a snow day would be declared. "Well, as a matter of fact, the news just announced that there would be one. You lucked out young lady." Momma said. She handed me a glass of orange juice. "That's right bunny, they weren't expecting the storm we had last night, so the city was unprepared. Normally we don't get a snow like this until late November, but it came a few weeks early this year." My father said with a smile. Whoa...hold on a sec. Back up there Daddio. A couple weeks early? Try a few months. Wait a minute, don't they find this in the least bit odd that we get a foot of snow in the middle of May? Suddenly my attention focused on the news and I saw the date at the bottom of the screen. November 15 NOVEMBER 15th?!?!?!?!?! My mind screamed. I dropped the juice I was holding and it shattered on the floor. What the HELL is going on?! My parents looked at my worriedly when I dropped my glass. My entire body was shaking. I didn't know what was going on, and I was scared. "Usagi?" My mother asked. "Sweetie, what's wrong? You're trembling." She placed her hand on my forehead. "You don't feel warm, do you feel sick or something?" Both my parents were staring at me. I regained my composure. "Huh? Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I just klutzed out again. I'm really cold, I think I'm going to go upstairs and get dressed. Excuse me." I said curtly, quickly retreating to my room, leaving the shattered glass on the floor behind me. Luna was still asleep on my bed. I walked over to a dirty pile of cloths sifting through them frantically for my communicator. I needed to talk to the others, and I needed to talk to them NOW. Luckily, since I have never called an emergency Senshi meeting before, I knew they would take me seriously. I found it in the pocket of my jeans and flipped it open, pushing the button that called all of them. "Sailor Senshi, this is Sailor Moon. There will be an emergency meeting at the arcade control center in fifteen minutes. I have startling new information on our latest enemy." I saw four heads nod their affirmative as I turned off my communicator. I slumped down on my floor, taking a minute to pause, thinking about what happened the night before with Tuxedo Mask. Memories of his arms around me flooded back to me. I closed my eyes, freeing my mind. I tried to picture who Tuxedo Mask was without the mask. I sighed, and opened my eyes again. I stood up and grabbed some random clothes that were scattered around me. Unlike normal, I did not really care how I looked. My mind was too busy pondering the dream I had last night to even think of trying to look cute for Mamoru and Motoki, or any other potential boys that I might come across. I ended up throwing on a pair of jeans and a plain white shirt that hugged my torso. Instead of putting my hair in its usual odango's, I lazily put it into a ponytail. Luna still lay sleeping on my bed so I wrote her a quick note telling her what was going on, and walked out of my room. I stood at the top of the stairwell and listened below to see what was going on. My parents were discussing my odd behavior and Shingo, who was now awake, was throwing in additional comments about how stupid or klutzy I was. Hearing a pause in conversation, I decided to make my grand entrance. "Hi Mom, Dad, and Wartface, I'm meeting the girls at the arcade in ten minutes. Gotta run! I love you! Ja ne!" I said, walking out of the house quickly before my parents could object, or even comprehend what had just happened. Since I left on time for once, I didn't have to run my ass off to get to the arcade on time. I jogged at a steady pace, using the cool winter's air to my advantage. I actually arrived at the arcade five minutes EARLY. I guess hell HAS frozen over. I thought to myself smirking. As I stepped into the arcade, warm air flooded around me. I looked around to see if anyone had arrived yet. I only saw Motoki wiping the counter, and Mamoru sitting there drinking coffee and talking to Motoki. Motoki looked up when I came in and smiled. Mamoru turned around to look at me. Our eyes locked, and both of us were unable to turn away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -end chapter 2.
