Minato-ku Juuban, October 26, 1992 Dear Ryo-kun, I have just gotten your letter from the mail. Isn't it convenient that we're not that far from each other, or else our letters would take weeks to come? I find writing to you fun, and I hope you feel the same way! Mako-chan told me to tell you that she's glad to hear how fine you're doing. Meanwhile, Usagi-chan has a list of questions attached to this letter (I warn you, though. Her questions are mostly about gossip and other things around school. She figured that since you had psychic abilities, you will be able to tell her these things ^^.). She says that you may write a separate note to her in your next letter to me (I'm not supposed to look at it, though, because one of those questions is about me.). Well, I hope you get over your homesickness! I think what you're feeling right now is very natural, but my mother says it will disappear as soon as you've gotten used to your new home. But, of course, we all encourage you to come, and Mako-chan told me that she will bake you a cake in honor of that occasion! Please come, because I just remembered that I haven't introduced you yet to Rei-chan, and I was meaning to for a long time! Thank you very much for promising to keep our secret, Ryo-kun! You don't know how much I appreciate it. All the people in the world should be like you, Ryo-kun, trustworthy to the very end. Well, I really don't mind telling you about how I became a Sailor Senshi. Your first guess was wrong, Ryo-kun, there wasn't any test at all. If there was, though, I'd have studied for it! But your second guess was very much correct; I guess I could say that it happened very unexpectedly… I still remember that day as if it was just yesterday. I could never forget that single day, because it changed my life forever… It was the day they posted the results of the big test all Junior High Schoolers in the country were required to take. Do you remember that? It was the first day I met Luna, too. Of course, I didn't know she could talk when I first met her. That would have scared ne out of my wits at the time! Just out of nowhere, she landed on my shoulder! She was so cute then (and even now ^^), as I remember… |
Then Usagi (I didn't know her at the time) called Luna to jump off my shoulder. I guess she was worried her cat might have been disturbing me, but I immediately said that it was okay. I even told her that I thought Luna was an angel, landing on my shoulder from the sky, so it seemed. Usagi-chan then introduced herself to me. This is what I like very much about Usagi, she's just so naturally friendly to everybody, ne? I would never forget the day I met her for the rest of my life. Though I said that I had never played video games in my life, the dear girl invited me to the Crown Game Center. This is where I got my first taste of the Sailor V game! At first, I just watched Usagi play the game, though I have to admit that it was a little monotonous, since Sailor V gets killed again and again when she plays ^^. She was really playing the game with all her energy! After watching her play a couple more times, I finally decided to try the game myself. I was surprised that I found it to be very easy! I thought it was going to be pretty hard, after seeing Usagi having so much trouble with it. In no time, I had gotten a high score! I felt okay, though I could tell that Usagi-chan was a little unhappy about it. (I wanted to say sorry to her desperately, but I didn't want to seem like I was bragging, of course.) Well, in all the video game playing, I almost forgot that I had to go to cram school, so I bid goodbye to Usagi-chan and ran off. I didn't know at the time that I had left my crystal diskette at the Game Center. However, when I got to cram school, I found out that it was missing, and on top of that, my teacher was telling me to use the crystal disk. I didn't want to use it, though, because for some strange reason, using the disk made my head hurt terribly. Later, much to my surprise, Usagi burst into our classroom, telling everyone to get away from the computers! I said that she shouldn't be interfering in our studying. All of a sudden, Usagi transformed in front of me, which shocked me beyond belief (she and Luna told me later that they thought I was the youma, because I had told Usagi not to meddle. This is why Usagi transformed in front of me! Imagine that! ^^). I was really dumbfounded to find out that she was Sailormoon! |
Then, without my knowing, my teacher suddenly grabbed me from behind! It was blood-curdling, Ryo-kun, to watch my sensei turn into a youma! Meanwhile, my teacher--er, the youma, asked Sailormoon why the apple fell from the tree (remember Isaac Newton?). Usagi (who was not under my tutoring at the time ^^) failed to answer the question, replying that the youma should ask the apple and not her! This made it fire test papers at poor Sailormoon, who was trying desperately to dodge the flying papers. Fortunately, smart Luna supplied the correct answer, to make the papers disappear. The youma then fired a second question at Sailormoon: "Explain what gravity is in under fifty words." She answered that it was impossible, and as punishment, the youma sent all my classmates (who had become zombies) to attack her! While Sailormoon was busy fending off all my zombie classmates, the youma pressed my head against the computer monitor, asking me to give up all my mental energy! It yelled at me for not using the crystal disk which made my head hurt so much. I told her that studying is something that is done with one's mind, and not with a machine or a disk, and she pressed my head harder to the screen (it was very painful!). To everyone's surprise (and mine, too, most of all!), a bright mercury sign appeared on my forehead. Luna, upon realizing that I was one of the senshi she was looking for, conjured up my henshin stick and slid it towards me. I grabbed it, even without knowing what it was at the time, and Luna tells me to shout "Mercury Power Make-up!" I did so without question, though I found it weird that a cat could actually talk (I just didn't think about it at the time)! When I did say the words, I transformed into Sailormercury! It was like magic, as if I had known how to do it all my life! I felt the exact same way when Luna told me to use the Shabon Spray to blind the youma. I did as I was told (like magic again! ^^), then Sailormoon finally finished the youma with her Moon Tiara Action. I guess that's about it. A long story, wasn't it? I've been fighting on the side of Sailormoon since, and Usagi's become one of my best friends. Does that answer your question? I hope it does! Well, I'll be waiting for your next letter! Sincerely, Mizuno Ami-san PS. Write back as soon as you can! |
