KANATA KARA BY KYOKO HIKAWA

Kanata kara is one of my favourite mangas I've collected so far. This story is about an ordinary school girl by the name Noriko, who was acidentally transpotted into a fantasy realm. Here she starts a new life with her first acquantience, and her only trust -- Izarku. Izarku is a wandering swordsman with supernatural powers. Together the both of them will experience thrilling and fascinating adventures which you'll never find it boring. Here is the detailed story of Kanata Kara, aka From Far Away. Enjoy!

  • Noriko was transported to this world by accident. She landed on the 'bed of the Golden Forest'. Noriko looked around, pinched herself hard on the back of her hand to convince herself that she was not dreaming. Suddenly she heard noises & saw animals jumping out behind her. A giant flower worm caught up & ate one monkey. Noriko was rooted to the ground when the flower worm saw her & attacked. Izark, who was observing Noriko among the trees, ran to her rescue. He easily sliced apart the attacking worm. Noriko was so relieved to see a human being that she hugged Izark hard. Izark pulled her away, frowning. Being embarrassed, Noriko started to explain frantically to Izark that she doesn't meant to be rude to hug him. Izark told her he didn't know what she's talking about. Noriko later realised that they spoke of different languages. The scent of the dead worm had sent the rest of the flower worms to come out hunting as well. Izark grabbed Noriko by the hand, later urging her to run when the giant flower worms attacked. Izark managed to kill some, but thought it might be better if he jumped over them. He bent down to sling Noriko by his shoulder & jumped. He landed safely to a place where the giant flower worm wouldn't attack. Izark wanted to leave, but Noriko could not move her legs at all, for fear had started to engulf her right now. She cried with confusion & fear. Izark had no choice but to stay (obviously). Noriko fell asleep then (she has this kind of weird symptom i.e. she'll fall asleep once she felt relieved & secured).

When she woke up, Izark was making a wooden platform to travel on the underground river. When finished, he told her to board it. Noriko made squeaks when the surroundings became dark, which irritated Izark. He made a fire on the torch with his bare hand, later telling Noriko to take it. Noriko was amazed by his supernatural powers. Noriko then asked for his name. Izark told her. Later Izark realised that there was a waterfall ahead. He picked Noriko up & jumped to the ground. He told her to stay there, while he searched for an opening. Noriko stayed although she couldn't understand what Izark was saying. Later she fell into a pool of water, and made a lot of noises. Izark ran back to see what had happened. Upon seeing that, Izark tapped his forehead in exasperation, stuffed his clothing to her & told her to change. Izark pushed a large rock out of the wall & soon enough they were in sunshine again.

They were somewhere on the mountain, & they had to move cautiously across the narrow path encircling the mountain. (Bad explanation....=P) Noriko was too tensed to move; she lost her grip on the rocks & fell. Izark caught hold of her but lost his grip on the rocks too. Both fell & landed on bushes. Noriko realised that she was lying on top of Izark, so she quickly got off him, apologised for causing trouble to Izark. But then she rolled down the bushes & landed on the grass beneath. She noticed a detached wheel lying not far from her, & she told Izark. Izark looked around the place. He found an injured man with his unconscious horse & broken carriage. Izark told Noriko to stay with the injured man while he searched for herbs. Later a bandit came along, claiming that he was the head of the bandits who attacked the injured man. Noriko screamed for Izark & saw him dash out to knock the bandit away. However the bandit shifted his position fast with the help of a creature by the name Gimo, & attacked Izark. <"What a bad day I'm having,"> said Izark He managed to injure the bandit, who escaped after being defeated. Izark revived the unconscious horse & they traveled to a village.

They managed to find a doctor to cure the injured man, & they stayed in an inn. Some soldiers came to spot check, but left when they couldn't find anything suspicious about them. The next day Noriko woke up & greeted Izark, who was sitting by the window. Suddenly Izark fell down. He panted hardly & couldn't stand up. Noriko wanted to help him up, but Izark snapped at her not to come near him.
