Ouke no Monshou is a long lasting golden manga. It is about to step into its 30th year and is still not finished (I think). There are many characters and if I want to give a guide to all of them, it would take awhile. So I decided to just put in those that made an impact on the story. If you would like me to add more, just email me.

Kyaroru -- Daughter of the Nile
Kyaoru was a girl of great intelligence and worth. Her life had always been fine and normal until the extravagation of the Pharaoh's tomb, which brought misfortune, or fortune rather, to her. Her appearance in Egypt changed the ancient world, and helped her beloved king Meifuisu to rule the country better -- not with force and suppress the people but with heart and love to help the people. She is extremely understanding and would help everyone if asked. This sometimes become a weakness as some kings of less worth tried to use this characteristic against her and her nation.
During her time in Egypt, it was a period of happiness and suffering. It was very lucky of her to be able to see the ancient structures herself in the ancient times -- something that archaeologists always wanted. And, she found her real love -- someone she could give up her life to protect, and someone she could always count on and return to. However, despite her willingness to be fair and nice to everybody, there were always somebody who don't understand and try to get rid of her. Examples of such were Aishisu and Princess Jyafuna -- both were in love with the king.
Meifuisu -- Pharaoh of Upper and PowerEgypt
Meifuisu was borned to be a king. He pocessed most, if not all of the qualities of a great ancient ruler. He was wise, quick-witted, strong, careful and a good military commander. Teh appearance of Kyaroru changed his life completely, for the way he lived and ruled the country was not advised much by people surrounding him due to their fear of offending this ruthless crown prince. Kyaroru made him aware that in order to rule a country peacefully and always have the people on his side, he must commande the people with love and careness. Though he didn't change much, this bit of advise and help from his beloved queen had drawn the people of Egypt to the royal family ever more than before. The pharaoh and the queen were loved by the people and the people supported them through every will.
He was crowned pharaoh at the age of not yet 18 after his father was poisoned by his Queen in attempt to upsurge the throne. Though he was young, he did receive the full instructions and trainings to be a great pharaoh that would lead Egypt to its peak. He inherited a peaceful and powerful kingdom. During his reign, though, due to the increase of power and wealth of Egypt, near by countries have not let Egypt rest in peace. But with his ingenious strategies, his caution and his excellent sword-play skills, he has spared Egypt from hassels and destructions one after another.
Prince Izumiru -- Prince of the Hittis
Prince Izumiru was known to the world that he lived in as a cunning, wise, and scary to some extent. His country the Hittis back then was a leading country in militarism for they were the pioneers in using iron to forge swords and other equipment. He was taught of the skills of sword play and the rules of governing a country, like Meifuisu, from young. Many leaders feared him and would bribe him as much as they could when have the chance. His eyes were penetrating, as if he knew all that you're thinking about. As his was born to be the crown prince, he's got everything he wanted ever since he could remember. The first time he encountered into a situation where he could not gain pocession of something or somebody was the time he met Kyaroru. Kyaroru's beauty, reputation, and her intelligence attracted him more than anything. He wanted to make her his wife, both for his country's expansion -- the gaining of Egypt, and for his own sake. However, a weak girl like Kyaroru dared to defy him, and would escape him with her knowledge. This changed him and the way he thought forever. His love for Kyaroru, later on, grew to such an extent that he didn't care to split with his father if his father did not agree not to torture Kyaoru because she was the queen of their enemy. He was this kind of person that would give up a lot for love.
Aishisu -- Queen of Lower Egypt and the Highest Priestess of Upper and Lower Egypt
Aishisu was one of the beauties of her time. She was devoted, emational, and not very wise sometimes. Since the tradition in ancient Egypt, she had loved her half brother always and was sure of her marriage with him until the appearance of Kyaroru. Ironically, it was her who brought Kyaroru to the ancient world for the sole purpose of torturing her. Aishisu had been a tragic and ironic character throughout the story. Her struggle to regain the confidence her brother once had of her and power to have the people and the court on her side had darkened her image, for almost everytime, her intrigue failed. She had a very feminine side, and would not allow any girl to love or be loved by Meifuisu. For this, she killed the princess of the Hittis, which trigered the grudge of the Hittis and the incident of Kyaroru being stolen by Prince Izumiru. In order to get rid of Kyaroru, she used lion, her loyal soldiers, crocodile, and later on, she even married the king of Babylon for the sole purpose of murduring Kyaroru. Each attempt was to restore Meifuisu to her, but each attempt drove Meifuisu away from her. This conflict was carried to its furthest side when Meifuisu declared her public enemy of Egypt, and her help to Ragushu to gain pocession of Egypt had ended her title as the Queen of lower Egypt and the highest priestess of Upper and Lower Egypt. It was a tragical fate of her, for she gained nothing but being called the enemy of her home country, which she once loved and worshipped. ( But though I feel only little pity toward her, I hate her as well, for she made Kyaroru suffer so much and even took her child away.)
Sub Characters
Afumaide was the son of a very rich Arabic business man who invests in oil. He was, like Kyaroru's borther, a good business man as well, but was more cunning. He found Kyaroru in the Mediterenean after Kyaroru was brought back to the 20th century through the Nile river, and brought her inland about 1000 KM from the sea. He hoped of marrying this beautiful and mysterious girl, and when Kyaroru was found pregnant, he tried to convince everybody that he was the one. However, as the god and the Nile and everybody in ancient Egypt who awaited the return of their beloved daughter of the nile know, his dream would never come true and Kyaroru was brought back to Egypt again, back to a place where she loved and longed for.
The King of Assyria, like all the other known kings, was evil, cruel and cold-blooded. He was also known for his womanized nature as his palace was filled with beautiful ladies from all over the country. His trap which lured both Kyaroru and Meifuisu to his country at different times did seem to succede at first, but he too, like Prince Izumiru, though had some idea of Kyaroru's intelligence, often underestimated the power of this skinny girl. With Kyaroru's help, he did not only loose one arm under Meifuisu's sword, the most proud and huge statue of his city was split into half. He lost more than he gained. (Ha! I fell no pity!)
The King of Babylon was a VERY cunning and cruel person. He, unlike others, when trying to gain pocession of Kyaroru, did not go directly after her but used Aishisu as a medium. However, like all other stories, the evil and the bad eventually will get punished, so the tower shich his ancesstors and him built over the several hundred years were exploded, and they've got to fix it again!!! That tower, (don't know the English name) right now in the 20 th century, I believe could not be found anymore. It's from the bible.
Jyafuna was the princess of Nubia. At that time, unlike many other times during the Ancient Egyptian history, Nubia was not part of the Egyptian territory after conquering but a friendly nation. She carried her father's will of allegiance to Egypt, and fell in love with the King at first glance. (Most females were like that becuase Meifuisu was known for his militarism and bad temper, so they didn't expect too much. But the fact was that he was quite handsome.) It was during the time of Kyaroru's absence to Babylon, so she stayed in Egypt for a very long time and tried to spell him, but of course, it didn't work. She herself thought that she was pretty and all that, but she was actually a fat, ugly and stupid princess -- and was nowhere near the intelligence and the beauty that Kyaroru pocessed. Yet, she dared to scorn Kyaroru and later on broke Kyaroru's heart to such a depth that Kyaroru would rather leave the man she loved wholeheartedly and forget about him completely. And after Kyaroru left from Egypt, she even wore Kyaroru's dress, wore Kyaroru's perfume, and went into Meifuisu's chamber one night with a herb that will make Meifuisu go to sleep. But fortunately, Unasu found it out and saved the situation. (She is the most hated person in the story, according to my opinion.)
Ruka was one of Prince Izumiru's most trusted soldier. He was sent to be a personal guard by Prince Izumiru so that he could bring Kyaroru to him when the time has come. The disguise had been very successful, and he did bring Kyaroru to Prince Izumiru many times. But except for that, like Unasu, he could give up his life for Kyaroru to protect her. He often says sorry from heart too when hearing Kyaroru's complaint about being with Prince Izumiru, and that he could not help it because he was Izumiru's soldier.
Unasu was a slave and about to be executed for something, if I didn't get wrong, when Meifuisu saw him. Meifuisu was still very ruthless then, and stabbed him with a knife on the arm to see how strong this boy was. After he could see that this boy endures the pain, he took him as a personaly guard, and Unasu became one of his most loyal and trusted body guard. He was assigned the duty of protecting Kyaroru. And at first, Kyaroru hated him for following her everywhere because he listened to every instruction of Meifuisu no matter what it was. But later on, they built a strong friendship and he would do anything to protect his king and his queen.
