At Jarjeye's estate, General Jarjeye was anxious to find out whether the new born babt was a girl or a boy. Unfortunately, the newly born baby was a girl again. However, he decided to raise his youngest daughter as a boy so that she could inherit his estate. He named her Oscar Francois Jarjeye.
14 years later, in Austria, Princess Marie Antoinette was just about to marry the shy crown prince of France. She was spoiled and did not have the full training as to how to become a good queen. Because of Oscar was a female and was very good at fencing, she was appointed the Commander of the French Royal Guards that would escort the princess -- it was her first time to put on a uniform. Soon, the princess and Oscar became close friends. As Antoinette was beautiful and capricioous, she was loved by many people. Due to her popularity, Mme DuBarry, a postitute who won the heart of the king with her beauty, scorned the princess with sharp eyes. Though she was powerful, Marie Antoinette disliked her very much -- not addressing her publicly, and totally ignored her. This was not only caused by DuBarry's hautiness, but also because that Marie was much influenced by her mother who detested postitutes, and would not allow such people to be in the Royal palace. This grudge between the two women caused tension in Europe and almost war in Europe, because the Austrian Queen Marie Theresa hoped that this royal marriage would bring peace and order to France and Austria; but if the treaty was destroyed just because the princess and the queen had a personal grudge, the effort would be useless. As Antoinette was having fun going to escapades in Paris with Oscar, Rosalie was growing up with her sinister sister Jeanne, who had no mind of working and was just dreaming to live in the homes of noble, since her mother revealed to her that they were the last survivors of the Valois family. During one dance, Hans Axel Fersen met Marie Antoinette and Oscar.
