Hans returned to France and told Oscar that he came to France to find a girl that he could marry. Oscar was shocked but she still calmly asked him to meet Antoinette. Madame Polignac retured to the palace blamed Oscar that Antoinette was not going to gamble anymore. When Oscar asked Rosalie to go to a ball in the palace, Rosalie rejected it but at Oscar's insistance she still went. Polignac also attended with her daughter Chartlotte. Antoinette greeted Oscar and Rosalie first, not dare to meet Hans in the eyes. Rosalie recognized Madame Polignac to be the noble who ran over her mother. Oscar stopped Rosalie's attempt to revenge her mother's death. As Madame Polignc's hatred toward Oscar grew, she attempted to assasin her but did not succeed when Hans came to her rescue. Charlotte suspected her mother, but only found heself in trouble as Madame Polignac was going to marry her off to an old rich duke. She told Oscar about the request. 
Meanwhile, with Hans, he informed Antoinette of his marriage, which ended up in Antoinette ran off crying. Oscar demanded a reason why Hans had to tell Antoinette, and Hans replied that he loved her so much that closer to her he fell deeper in love. But she was the queen of France.
Aware of Cardinal Rohan's desire for the queen, Jeanne got an imitated letter of Antoinette and gave it to the Cardinal in the name of Antoinette, and received a vast amount of money in return.
As Antoinette seemed to be blooming, words were out about she having an affair with a Swedish Count. Even among the commoners, the news was published and they blamed her for not knowing how the people live and still having affair.
After Charlotte's tragic death in reaction of refusing her marriage, Polignac wanted to take Rosalie home becasue it was found out that she was her real mother. Rosalie refused, but still went with Polignac's threatens.
Hans told Oscar that he cancelled the engagement. He would never marry because he only have Antoinette in his heart.
When American Independence War broke out, Hans went as a soldier to help out in protecting Antoinette's name.
After having her first child, Antoinette moved to a villa and wanted to do no more with nation's affairs. Antoinette's mother feared for her, knowing her action would one day bring trouble. But as her death at 63, Antoinette was even more less interested in the political affair.
When the Independence War ended, Hans still did not return. Oscar became unsettled knowing that Hans should return if he was not killed. One night, Andre and Oscar went to a bar to drink but was attached to unconciousness because of her nobility. When Andre woke up, he carried Oscar and walked home. To him, Oscar was the perfect woman and he slowly kissed her.
In order to keep Carinal Rohan's emotions down, she found a blind girl looking exactly like Antoinette and told Cardinal Rohan to meet her at the garden of Venus. Meanwhile with Antoinette, she knew nothing of this and started to waste losts of money on gifts given to Mme. Polignac. When she was shown a beautiful necklace ordered by King Louis XV before and was asked to buy it, she refused due to the high price. The jeweller got frustrated and thought that Jeanne was close to the queen so he went to see her and asked for help. Jeanne forged the signature of Queen Marie and signed the contract for the necklace. After she's got the jewel in her hand, she sold it out in small quatities. And with Antoinette, she's received a bill and thought that the jeweller was mistaken and did not keep the bill. Because of this, she was caught in this net of necklace scandal which darkened the image of the Royal Family ever more. People's dissatisfaction grew even stronger.
