Queen Marie revealed to Oscar that the reason the 12 men were released so easily was because soon, all the army of France are going to gather in Paris and try to calm the people down, by all means, if that meant deaths. As the revolution was on its way, Oscar seemed to have realized that her life might end soon, for she changed her mind in refusing pose for a painter, and summoned one herself to paint her a portrait. The victory over Bastille was not the end of the revolution, it was only the beginning orf a bloody revolution that claimed the lives of many commoners, the royal family, including the Queen's children and other nobles who were loyal to the Queen. As the conditions got worse, the nobles started to escape and left the Royal family in a torturing condition. Just when the Queen was confused, her beloved Hans came back from Sweden to help her out. After the Royal family moved to the Paris Palace, he proposed an escape plan. However, at the night of their escape, because he was not very familiar with the roads of Versaille, he got lost and was late for 2 hours to reach the designated place. When they got there, the soldiers were not there to wait for them. Since there were no time, they kept on, and parted with Hans to ensure his own safety. When they got to the villa where they were supposed to meet General Bouille, the soldiers weren't there either -- as Bouille suspected, the sudden appearence of so many soldiers rose the curiosity of the commoners so they were forced to retrieve. As the Royal family was just wondering what should be done, the commoners were attracted to the beautiful carriage in which the Roya family travelled. They surrounded the carriage, and one of the observer was a future revolutionary figure, who recognized the Royal family, and stopped them at the gate despite they had a valid transpass. They were forced to retrieve to Paris, and there wer no time for General Bouille to help them. Fro away at the border, Hans knew what happened and saw the end coming. After 5 days of terrifying escape, Marie's hair turned white. With many letters Marie wrote to Hans, there were no replies, but she knew from her sister-in-law that he had travelled to Germany, Sweden, and was in Austria now to ask for help. However, none would give aid to the Royal Family because they knew well that they could not receive any benefits from helping the Queen. Desperate and disappointed, Hans came with another plan himself. He sneaked in to the Queen’s palace, and told the King and Marie of what should be done. However, the King was reluctant to experience such terrifying feelings again, he refused the help. Marie stated as well that as the Queen, escaping was not the way out – she would not want her mother to fell ashamed of her. As Hans knew that she chose her status and life of a Queen over their love, they parted in sadness and a hurry since there were people coming – that was the last encounter and good-bye of the tragic Queen and her lover Lord Hans Axel von Fersen. During a famous speech of St.Just, the King was voted 360 against 361 – by the difference of one vote -- to be guillotined. Before the parting of the Royal Family, the King made his son swear that he would not revenge on the death of his father. After the death of the King, Marie could only hope to live happily with her children. However, the revolutionaries decided that they would take her son away from her. Tormented and broken-hearted, she asked to the God to kill her as well. Later, she was moved from the tower to a prison, where she was taken care of by Rosalie. Rosalie and her work mates found the Queen to be a very nice person, and they were the last friends of this tragic Queen. During the trial, she was sentenced to death on the guillotine.
Finally, she was relieved that everything was over, and she could now rest in peace. As she wrote the last letter to her sister-in-law,
she buried her face in tears. The day of her death, they cut her hair, and she was brought in front of the people to be killed publicly. The people cheered as they saw the end to this Queen they hated so much. As for Hans, after going back to Sweden, due to the fact that his love was killed by commoners, he had an outrageous hate toward them and became a tyrant. Knowing that he was very sinful, he was killed by his own swedish people in revenge.
