The Ada Arts and Humanities Council is proud to have an address on the Internet, where we plan to keep our members up-to-date about upcoming events. Our organization has been part of the community since 1976, when it was created to provide cultural opportunities for all ages.

Recognizing the importance of the arts and humanities to our community, the council takes every opportunity to present a wide variety of programs in the performing and visual arts, as well as discussions in the humanities to its members and the community at-large. We are an incorporated, non-profit organization, so we depend upon our members to provide support for the various events offered throughout the year. Our membership year is April 1 to March 31.

We would like to continue offering major events to the community, such as the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra, Oklahoma Festival Ballet, and the Vienna Choir Boys. To that end we have created a Special Endowment Fund which we hope to build and use to regularly bring more expensive, larger events to town. To provide continuity we have set up a rotating schedule of major events as follows: symphony orchestra; dance or ballet; choral ensemble; opera or theater; visual arts; and humanities. These events are quite expensive to bring to town and require grants from the Oklahoma Arts Council and, more importantly, your attendance and support.

Your past support has allowed us to offer a variety of special events, from lectures to concerts, either free or at nominal cost, including performances by local artisans and musicians such as A Winter's Night of Artistic Delight , Horns Aplenty, and ArtStroll on Main Street. We also continue to offer the always popular Summer Arts Program and provide scholarship support to a variety of students in the arts and humanities.

Each year the Ada Arts and Humanities Council searches for candidates for the Wight and Criswell Scholarships as well as an Outstanding Adan for the Arts. The winners of these three awards are announced each spring. If you would like information about joining our organization, or would like to apply for either the Wight or Criswell scholarship e-mail us by clicking on the animated envelope below, or write us: Ada Arts and Humanities Council, PO Box 453, Ada OK 74821-0453. While we welcome memberships at anytime of the year, our membership year is April 1 to March 31. If you'd like to see who's won our scholarships and awards in recent years, click here. If we've inadvertently left someone off who should be listed, please e-mail Patti at one of the addresses below and provide the details.

The Ada Arts & Humanities Council logo was designed by Eleanor Wight, a long-time supporter of the arts in Ada. She is now honored by a scholarship presented in her name each year.
