He, too, was a member of the council's board of directors. The scholarship is given to an artist or rising university senior planning to continue their education in the arts and humanities. In 2002, the scholarship was split between Peggy Wallace and Dale Adam Myers. | |

Our other co-recipient of the Criswell Memorial Scholarship is Peggy Wallace. She is a certified teacher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities and is currently substituting for Ada Public Schools. Whenever possible she brings the arts into her classrooms and especially enjoys working with a class of emotionally disturbed students manipulating clay while practicing sharing skills and good manners. This has raised her interest in Art Therapy and she would like to broaden her skills and pursue certification in this area. Although new to the art world, Wallace has shown her work to elementary students and teachers and exhibited at ECU as well as through the Ada Area Artists Association, of which she is a member. Her portion of the scholarship will fund a class in Function, Form and Compositions in clay at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. |
