This portion of my site is going to feature a new saint of a person who has the Blessed status in the Catholic Church. However, for the next couple of updates, I plan on featuring the Shroud of Turin. I got my information and pictures from Shroud of Turin .

The Shroud of Turin is an old linen cloth that has the image of Jesus Christ on it, after his Crucifixion and burial. The actual shroud is 14.5 feet long and 3.5 feet wide. It was owned by the Dukes of Savoy, but now is the property of the Catholic Church. It is kept in Turin, Italy, in a chapel behind the altar of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. In 1532, there was a fire in the building where the shroud was kept, also where the Poor Clare nuns lived. They saved the shroud, and doused it with water, which is the reason for burn holes and water stains that are found on the shroud.

Many people wonder how the image of Jesus got on this cloth and it has been examined by many scientists. If you are interested in learning more about the science behind this, go to the website where I obtained this information located at the top of the page. I will not get into the scientific background, but it is believed that the image was left there as a result of a lot of light. Possibly light that took place when Jesus was Resurrected from the dead.

First, I am just going to have the image of the face on this site, adding more as time goes on. I will have the original image and the negative image, for it is easier to note the details on the negative picture. Also, in order to get the best view of it, it is better to sit further away from the computer. Here are the pictures.

It is interesting to note that on the head of Jesus, where the bloodstains are, is the number 3. I am not sure what this means. I do know that seeing Jesus' face like this is very moving and inspirational. Seeing the bloodstains brings the pain and suffering of Jesus in my thoughts, and compassion in my heart.

This is a close up of some of the scourge marks that were on the body of Jesus. There are an estimated 135 marks. That brings me to a humble place, knowing that our Lord suffered that much for us. The marks were made with something called a flagrum, which is multi thonged, and lead weighted. A thong is a narrow strip used for lashing. This must have been horrible for Jesus to endure. It is important to remember that he never made a sound regarding this, and that he forgave all of the people who beat him.

This is the center of the chest of Jesus. It is important to notice the dense bloodstain on the top of the image which is a wound on the side of Jesus. Remember when the soldiers were ordered to take the men down from the crosses, and Jesus was already dead so one of them pierced his side. This may be from that. These pictures really bring me to a humble place, God's plan to save us all and Jesus who died for us are so wonderful; I am undeserving of such an act and will be forever grateful.

In this picture, we are looking at the torso of Jesus. His arms can be seen on the top and the bottom of the picture. His arms are bloody from being nailed to the Cross. There is also a little bit of a view of the side view on the upper left hand corner of the picture. In the negative it is possible to see scourge marks. These pictures always remind me of the pain that Jesus went through to save us, sinners. It is important that we never forget that.

These are pictures of Jesus' arms. As you can tell, there was much blood present. Two different blood trails are visible on the arms, which experts believe to mean that Jesus had lifted Himself up to gasp for air. Just thinking of that humbles me for God is so wondering in his plan to save all of us!

In these pictures, the hands of Jesus are shown, including the wrists. There is a massive bloodstain apparent in the picture, where Jesus Christ had the nails driven into Him. This saddens me becuase even in this state, the people continued to mock Jesus. The wonderful thing is that Jesus did not say a thing, He saved them all. Take a moment to think about this picture and how greatly the Lord, who did no wrong, suffered for us, undeserving people, who only become deserving through the Lord's grace.

In this picture the hands of Jesus are visible on the left side. The rest is the hip area, which is heavily marked from scourging. This makes me very sad to think of all the suffering that Jesus endured, but also very happy that He did all of this for us. As I mentioned before, He did not make a sound, and He in fact forgave us all. I think a lesson we can all learn is that we should be more willing to forgive others.

In this picture, especially in the negative, you can see the beginning of the legs of Jesus. There are many scourge marks in this area as well. This makes me very sad to think of how Jesus was scourged all over His body. I love you Jesus, please forgive my sins, thank You for suffering for us.

This shows identical pictures of the legs; it is important to remember that this happened to both legs. There are many scourge marks in the picture. The bloodstain from where our Lord was nailed to the cross by his feet is visible. O Lord forgive us of our sins. Thank you for taking up the Cross.

This is a picture of the feet of Jesus. As you can notice, there is a dense bloodstain on the feet, marking one of the places where Jesus was nailed to the Cross. He lost so much blood that day, and felt so much pain. I thank Him for doing this for us. Please try to remember that Jesus did not have to go through this, He chose to in order to bring us all Salvation.

Well that is all of the pictures for the Shroud of Turin, amazing isn't it? The whole point of this being up on my site is to remind all of us what Jesus did for us and to never forget. This action was for our salvation, it is the reason we have a chance at Heaven. Please do not take this lightly. Where would we be spiritually if God had not made this His plan for Jesus? Where would we be if Jesus had not done this? Take the time to thank and praise the Lord for His sacrifice. I personally thank Jesus for enduring so much pain for the forgiveness of our sins, and I will never forget that it was through grace not because i deserved it, because I, like the rest of the human race, did not. I would like to thank God for sacrificing His Son for us Amen.
