Mr. Brian L. Woods graduated from Edwardsville High School and then Millikin University. While at Edwardsville he played in all the performing ensembles and he took Outstanding Soloist Awards at many marching compititions during High School. In addition to being an All-State Trumpet player he Also went Bi-State his Senior year. He went on to Millikin,where played in the top jazz band, and got a degree in Music Education. After a few years off the music scene he landed his first teaching job in 98' at Meredosia-Chambersburg where he remains today. He is still furthering his education. During the summer he works on completing his masters at Western Illinois University.
He's made some major changes in the Music Program at MCS.He restarted a Jazz Band his first year which has became a HUGE success.He's still taking the rest of the performing ensembles to new heights.His energy has truly ignited the entire department.
His help on stage is always good.As director of the school's productions of "Robin Hood"(00) and "Scheherazade"(01). He got serious,a little too serious for some, but never the less the productions were a success. Since his tenture as the director he has started a Drama Club and has decided to take on a musical this Spring. This is Woods conducting the warm-up before our first show of the 2001 season.
Mr. Woods has also played in countless music ensembles through out his music career.Since becoming the MCS director he's played in The MacMurray Community Band, Winchester Community Band, Jacksonville Big Band, Macomb Muny Band,Griggsvilles Pep Band, Jacksonville Symphony,JHS's Pit Band and the Jacksonville Theatre Guild's Pit Band to name a few. He also directs the Meredosia Community Band.
