David Pyatt became the youngest person ever to win the "BBC Young Musician of the Year" at the age of 14.
He also became the only horn player to win this competition, although there have been several horn finalists.
Last year, he won the "Gramophone Young Artist of the Year" award, and is now recognised as of the of the leading horn players of the present generation.
At the moment, he is a freelance horn player, and has made several CDs, which have all got high commendations.
At present, he plays on a Paxman B flat/F alto horn, but he is also experimenting with Englebert Schmid horns.
For his recording of the Mozart Horn Concertos, he used an Alexander horn, in memory of the death of a fellow horn player.
