Welcome to the Bluejay Marching Band

The Mancos Marching Band is the three time state 1a-2a marching band champions. Proud hosts of the People's Choice Award six years in a row, Mancos has been in the Finals at State since 1993. We have also been proud recipients of the High Percussion, Best Auxillary and Best Drum Majors along with several other caption awards in this and previous years.

  Mancos is also proud of their Bluejay Pep Band that currently plays for home basketball games. Looking forward to a hopefully successful season, we hope to be able to play at future tournaments at regional and state level. The Pep Band has played for football games during the Marching Season as well. Many of the members of the Marching Band also play in the Pep Band.

  Located between Cortez and Durango, near Mesa Verde National Park, Mancos is in a river valley. The area is home to much of the archaeological interest in the Southwest Colorado. Mancos is a varied community serving several different divisions of the population.

  Mancos has a population around twelve hundred people and about one hundred forty students in the High School. Located at:

  Mancos is also home of Luther Elliss, #94 of the Detroit Lions. Luther played saxophone in the Marching Band during his high school career. Elliss graduated in 1991 from Mancos High School and went to Utah State University. He was picked twentieth in the draft.
