My Compositions
I would like to thank you for the interest in my compositions. I have been composing
intermittently since Easter 1996. At the time I was bored and started 'mucking about'
with a keyboard. From the themes and passages which appeared at this time, emerged
eleven preludes: the Abm, Am, Bbm, Bm, Cm, C#m, Dm, Em, Fm, G and Gm.
At the time, I naively thought that they just sounded "OK".. On returning from my
holidays, Mr Arthur Short (to whom the Opus 1 set is dedicated), the principal teacher
of the music department, at my then school, listened to all of the preludes which were
composed in that three week holiday. His thoughts were :
"Rather interesting, Yves-André.....Have you ever thought of publishing?"
I can assure you that this second thought was very frightening, but after some
consideration, I thought "Why not?". Following on from this I have continued to
compose whenever the urge takes me, and circumstance allows me.
My pieces are in a variety of styles, but on the whole, I tend to write in a
Romantic/Neo-Classical style. I hope that you find the pieces enjoyable to listen to.
