Pillow cases

Here are just a few examples of some really good quality pillow cases which remind us that there was a woman, whether a mother, wife or girlfriend, in the heart of every recruit. On either side are two of the most attractive pillow cases I've seen, both from Dafoe, SK's #5 B&GS. In the other images, #7 ITS was in Saskatoon (along with #4 SFTS), and #8 SFTS was in Moncton, NB, before being moved to Weyburn, SK in January, 1944. #16 SFTS in Hagersville, ON sold the attractive pillowcase on the right.

...and Pennants, of course!

Here is an assortment of pennants, either from bases or towns near the bases. Davidson, Sask, was home of #23 EFTS, Hamilton wasn't the address of any base, but some were close (Brantford, #5 SFTS; Hagersville, #16 SFTS; Jarvis, #1 B&GS). Ken Keegan tells me that this pennant may be pre-war and that the airbase in Hamilton was moved to Mt. Hope, to be the home of #10 EFTS, #33 ANS and #1 Wireless School. It is now the site of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Thanks, Ken.Next is another variation on the Trenton pennant, seen also at right, and Yorkton, home of #11 SFTS and later, #23 EFTS. Moose Jaw was the home of #32 SFTS and was, of course, a major post-war RCAF and Commonwealth training base. Brandon was the base for #12 SFTS and also #2 Manning Depot. At right is a trio: Patricia Bay pennant (#'s 3 & 32 OTU), Regina's #2 ITS, and the other Trenton. And to top it off, above you see the back of the Pat Bay pennant (the only one with sewn-on lettering), showing the maker--Crest Craft! Who'da thunk it?
