SIMON ROWE
- Trumpet
Originally from Australia,
Simon recently moved to Bloomington from St. Louis where he played jazz
piano professionally. Simon began his own record label, "Catalyst Productions,"
which is based in Bloomington. Simon currently studies trumpet with Indiana
University Professor Emeritus Bill Adam. In addition to playing in the
Bloomington Brass Quintet, Simon also plays with the Bloomington Community
Band.
ALISSA QUICK
- French Horn (Alissa hastens to add
that these horns come from Germany, not France. She's a bit of a purist.)
Alissa (pronounced "uh-lee-sa")
moved to Bloomington in October 1998. She came here to pursue a master's
degree in Library Science at Indiana University. Currently, Alissa plays
in the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, the Bloomington Brass Band, the
Bloomington Community Band, the Bloomington Brass Quintet, and a newly-formed
woodwind quintet comprised of Bloomington Symphony Orchestra members. Alissa
earned simultaneous undergraduate degrees in Humanities and Music from
Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colorado in 1996.
DONNA LAFFERTY
- Trombone (Donna hastens to point out that trombones RULE.
Totally. No question.)
Donna moved to Bloomington
from Chicago in 1990. She earned a music degree from Northwestern University
in 1983. While at Northwestern, Donna studied with Chicago Lyric Opera
trombonist Ardash Marderosian as well as with the late Frank Crisafulli
of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Currently Donna is studying with Indiana
University Professor M. Dee Stewart. She plays with the Bloomington Brass
Band, Indiana University's All Campus Band, the Bloomington Community Band,
and the Bloomington Brass Quintet. Donna owns Spaah! Hot Tub Soaks &
Massage Therapy in Bloomington.
PHIL SLOFFER -
Tuba (Phil never hastens for anything. Ever. He's not much
of a purist, either.)
Phil makes his living tuning
pianos and harpsichords for the Indiana University School of Music. In
addition to playing with the Bloomington Brass Quintet, Phil plays tuba
with the Bloomington Brass Band and the Bloomington Community Band.
