Tanglewood, August 15-19

Well, the first flaw in my nerd vacation plans : I must remember to bring all the connecting pieces I need. This weekend, I forgot to bring my power supply, so this will probably be a very short page. I have started to bring my camera with me places, but I'm still forgetting to actually take pictures. Hopefully I'll still have some battery left latter in the weekend to upload some pictures, once I've taken them.

The Coolest thing about this place won't show up in a picture though. Although the grounds are beautiful, the coolest thing is the "music in the air". It sounds corny but it's true. At almost anytime and anyplace, there's a rehearsal going on or someone practicing, usually both. It's just so different from the usual office white noise.

If you're ever out in the Berkshires you should spend some afternoon here at Tanglewood. It's very relaxing.

Despite my technical difficulties, I did get few pictures at Tanglewood. (Although I still forget to take picture when there're people around.)
Here's a picture of the lake that's behind the main grounds. Somehow the music seems for float out from the shed and echo back from the mountains in the background. I'm not sure if it's a real phenomenon or if it's just an illusion. It's beautiful non-the-less. (No, I have no idea who the people are. I'm sorry I didn't wait a few seconds to catch them in a more flattering pose.)
This bench is in the formal gardens behind the visitor's center, next to the chamber music hall. There are several photogenic places in the formal gardens. This is the only picture I took with decent lighting.
