Members of the Capital Brass

Mike Dubil has a degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and was a soloist with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. He is presently a freelance professional trumpet player in Columbia. He is also president of Southeast Designs, a marching band consulting firm.

Terry Fancey is a 1974 graduate of the University of Wisconsin where he studied music and played in the band. Mr. Fancey now plays with the Tony Torre Orchestra, the Columbia Community Concert Band, and the Columbia International University Concert Band. He is currently a tax appraisal supervisor for Richland County.

Hornist Robert Gay is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Music and a J.D. degree. Mr. Gay is a former music educator and has served the Army as bandsperson and Bandmaster. He is currently an Attorney Advisor at Fort Jackson.

Dave Roof became a member of SC's All State Band while a student at Lexington High School. He has an Engineering degree from Virginia Tech. As a member of the Air Force, Mr. Roof played with bands world-wide. He presently designs and installs custom home theatre and lighting systems.

Tubist John Thompson has a degree in Music Education from Florida State. He has 15 years experience as a high and middle school band director and teaches at Blackville-Hilda High School. Mr. Thompson is also Choir Director of the North United Methodist Church.
