Table manners in the Middle Ages

"In the late middle ages, several books were available on the subject of the etiquette at meal time. Despite the huge amount of excessing eating and drinking that took place in the banquetting hall, there was a certain way to behave in the company of the baron and his wife. Guest were advised not to pet dogs or cats while sitting at the table, not to slurp soup, and not to pick their nose, teeth, or nails." Castle Explorer
