Founded in 1995, Brass Renaissance has become a South Florida institution in concert halls, schools and churches throughout the area. The ensemble's versatility is evident, with classical, jazz, pop and religious music performances as a quartet, quintet, sextet, chamber players, large ensemble collaborators, orchestral and wind ensemble section players, as well as teachers and arrangers.

The Musicians


Michael Rausch - Trombone

Mr. Rausch has performed as principal trombone with the "President's Own" United States Marine Corps Band in Washington, D.C. and has been a featured soloist on numerous nationwide concert tours. During his career, he has performed for five presidents as trombonist with the White House Orchestra, playing for dignitaries and celebrities from around the world. Mr. Rausch has also performed with the Florida Philharmonic, the Florida Wind Symphony and the Palm Beach Brass.

Mr. Rausch received his Bachelor and Master of Music from the University of Miami.

Robert M. Robson, Jr. - Horn

Buddy Robson has performed with the North Miami Beach Symphony, the Pan American Sinfonica, the Broward Symphony, the Florida Wind Symphony and the Palm Beach Brass.
He received his Bachelor of Music in Performance from the Florida State University, School of Music, and was a student of both William Robinson and William Capps. He has also studied with Dwayne Dixon (co-principal horn of the Florida Philharmonic).

David Gibble - Trumpet
Mr. Gibble is a Senior Instructor of Instrumental Music at the Palm Beach Community College. He is Director of Bands and the College Jazz Ensemble. He also performs with many jazz ensembles throughout South Florida.
Mr. Gibble graduated from the University of Texas at Denton (North Texas State University).

Sy Pryweller - Trumpet & Percussion

Sy Pryweller has been a faculty member at Palm Beach Community College for over thirty years. He has served as conductor of the PBCC Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and numerous musical and theatrical productions. He has performed with the Greater Palm Beach Symphony, the Boca Pops, the Jupiter Theater, and in virtually hundreds of dance, jazz, and show groups on both trumpet and percussion.
Sy received his B.M.E. and M.M.E. from Indiana University with additional training at Eastman School of Music, USC, Florida State University, and Berklee College of Music.

Larry Davidson - Trumpet

Mr. Davidson was a trumpeter with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra in New York City for over ten years and was a regular in Broadway Shows, including Oklahoma, The Music Man and Beatle Mania, for sixteen years. LD's other credits include recordings, The Dance Theater of Harlem, The New York Brass Choir and appearances with a host of pop performers from Motown to Morocco.
Mr. Davidson majored in Music at the University of Michigan. Go Blue!

Calvin E. Jenkins - Tuba

Mr. Jenkins has performed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Florida, the Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra, the Birmingham Metropolitan Orchestra, the Monumental Brass Quintet, the Ambassador Brass Quintet and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. He is also a prominent brass educator and clinician.

Mr. Jenkins is currently seeking a Doctorate in Music from the University of Miami and received his Bachelor and Master of Music (Applied) from the University of Miami as well.
